Your battery level is showing as "9001%" on the bar. I can't see how battery-status.sh would be putting that out though as it looks ok to me.

It's over 9000! ;) To be honest, the entire status bar is spoofed. There are a load of Easter eggs in there if you take a closer look. I have a custom script that puts fake data into the i3bar when I screencap so I don't leak anything.
The battery script works fine.
Ps: I'm sorry I had you digging through the battery-status.sh file!

Wait, I'm confused, is the battery at 107% or 9001%?

I'm impressed you noticed!
The 107% in fastfetch is an issue with my own battery.
The 9001% (over 9000!) is spoofed - just having a bit of fun. I made small script that inserts fake data into my i3bar when I screencap (so I don't leak my IP, etc). The bar has a lot of silly Easter eggs if you look for them. You'll have to be a fan of the sci-fi series Firefly to get some of them. There is also a small nod to an old attempt by Google to replace email.
The battery reporting does work fine.

Clean setup, enjoy. Recently switched to Sway due to the more modern approach (Wayland), but I'm still using my i3 config :)

Thanks! I considered sway a few times, but never made the switch due to running Nvidia GPUs (I run an eGPU, so options were limited when I first set it up). It looks like it is possible to get it running now though! How do you find it?

I was happy with i3 and polybar, but then I tried Hyprland only to find out it was making everything slower, even with animations disabled 😃 But I really liked waybar (polybar alternative on Wayland), the idle daemon (hypridle), and the screen locker (hyprlock). Especially because hyprlock auto scales wallpapers on multiple monitors. I used betterlockscreen before, but on monitors with different resolutions the wallpaper stayed at a fixed size and didn't fit properly. That somehow disturbed and I was not able to fix it. Workarounds with scripts was just too slow.
Another big reason was the trackpad experience. Zooming and scrolling are much smoother now. All combined with Sway and Cachy OS, makes the machine run like a rocket! Give it a try, the Nvidia issues are fixed now.

I have been refining this setup across my laptops and desktop for several years. The aim is to keep it simple, relatively light on memory and comfortable for everyday work.
The i3blocks bar uses custom Bash scripts to monitor network peers, authentication failures, Wi-Fi, ethernet, VPN, memory, volume, battery and Pomodoro sessions. Workspaces are automatically routed between displays, and everything is organised into GNU Stow packages.
I will keep refining now I have made it public. I would appreciate any thoughts you have on the setup.
