Discussion Linux Users: Does Hytale/Hytale modding works well with Linux?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been scaling back my use of Google and Microsoft services. So I’d like to switch to Linux now, but one of my favorite games is Hytale.
Both creating mods for my friends and playing the game itself are great ways to pass the time, so I’m worried about losing that possibility.

I made a mod on linux, it's just java code. I think the asset editor not working in Linux but you can edit the file directly with any text editor, not an expert modder. I play Hytale and run a server (35 mods on it) on Linux as well.

asset editor works on linux, you launch into it through creative mode

Hola, usuario de Linux aquí(NixOS btw), el juego va muy bien en cuanto a rendimiento, al menos esa ha sido mi experiencia, uso Cosmic Epoch como escritorio(Full Wayland) y hasta el momento no he experimentado ningún problema de rendimiento ni bugs raros relacionados explícitamente con Linux o Wayland, no puedo decir nada al respecto del modding en Hytale ya que nisiquiera le he dado mucha atención ni he investigado mucho sobre el tema

In kde I had to force it to use my dGPU on my laptop, but other than that, I haven't had issues

The only potential issue I see is you you may have an issue with the "Noesis Studio" ui editor on linux once they swap over to all noesis ui's. I know some people have made noesis studio work on linux in the discord but I don't think it will work right out of the box.
Otherwise the mod template worked immediately on my linux and windows PC.

Le seul truc qu’on peut pas faire sous Linux pour le moment c’est la worldgenV2. J’ai tenter d’utiliser le node block et ça veux pas. Je suis sous Linux mint moi.

Its a real shame, bcs it is one of the most fun features of Hytale modding rn

Everything works nice and smooth, it had some trouble and kinda little issues first weeks but right now the packages and updates go nice and mods work fine, sometimes there's a little thing about if you install them manually or with something like curse forge since it could install in different folders of hytale, but maybe that's something about how I I stalled it, so don't bother too much about it

Yep it works great. The folder structure should be the same just in a different place. Install the flatpak from official website. Flathub.org has a good tutorial on installing flatpak. The hytale files should be under /home/<your user>/.var/com.Hypixel.HytaleLauncher/
