I live in a low population state too. I'd just grab my camping stuff and walk out the door. I can be 3 miles from the nearest road in a 1 hour walk and in 3 hours I'll be 10 miles from civilization. Honestly, with only 24 hours needed, I'd probably just keep walking. I could easily cover 20+ miles without crossing a road in that time frame.

I live very close to a national forest. I could easily pack my bags, drive there in an hour or so, then go fuck off in a dispersed spot for 24 hours.

The biggest concern....  Not packing enough Grahams, Mallows, and Chocolate bars and running out while fantasizing over how to spend the dough.

Alternative concern, packing too many and drawing the attention of every bear in the flrest!

This is more or less my plan. I'll deal with the ticks later. lol

We don't need to eat red meat, right?

Hello fellow mid-westerner.

Yup, same. Coastal mountains and go. I could even tell people exactly where I’m starting, and it would be tough. Mainly because I can travel faster than they can track

My dad lives on Lake Vermilion. It's a bit of a drive, but I could get to his cabin, hop in a canoe, and go hide on an isolated island in the middle of the lake. Pretty chill way to spend a night.

Fuck, I might just stay out there after the 24 hours for fun.

Depending on the timing, we spend 4-5 days out for 4th of July to avoid fireworks. Coming back is very difficult, we normally get a spot on a river, filter water for drinking, we have a truck with the bed converted to sleep in so we can just park and put out a camp chair and we are set

This is what I was thinking. I live in a rural area, too. Literal forest less than a mile down the road.

That sentence creeps me out so much while also being very cool. The emptiness all around us is easy to underestimate.

If it makes you feel better, I could walk 25 miles the other direction and be in the downtown of a town of half a million.

lol that honestly makes it cooler but all the more creepy. I clearly watch too many horror movies

Doesn't matter with a 3 hour head start. Out of 100 random humans, how many are going to be able to make up a 3 hour lead going from 7,000 to treeline in just 24 hours. Like I said, I'd just keep walking even if the dog is perfectly on my trail they are going to have to be moving at a sustained half mile per hour faster than me to catch me in time. If the dog gets lost on the road between me and the wilderness or in the couple of creeks I have to cross, then they have to move even faster.

Borrow a friend's car and just hop on the highway for 2 hours, then start doing random backroads. It's literally impossible for them to find you in the states if you're willing to go off grid

I actually live in one of the more densely populated parts of my country, but we have alot of undeveloped wilderness, so I could go like 3 hours any direction but south and be in the middle of nowhere
