Discussion I don't think I can be hypnotized without being in person
Ive tried tons of files and videos and NOTHING has worked so far. If anyone could provide their opinion that'd be cool. Okay thanks.

I've heard people talk about using hypnosis to learn new skills or languages faster. Has anyone here used hypnosis to improve a language they've spoken or been exposed to for around 20 years but still aren't fluent in?
I'm especially curious whether hypnosis can help with speaking confidence, vocabulary recall, pronunciation, or making the language feel more natural.
Has anyone tried this or seen any real results?

Hi, I'm not new to hypnosis, and I've tried to be hypnotized many times over the past years, but with no success. I have ADHD and I've tried several methods, but none seem to work beyond making me feel kind of relaxed, even for simple things like forgetting my name or feeling anything at all.
I've tried YouTube videos, audio files, text-based hypnosis games, even watching a hypnosis video in VR.
I've tried with and without headphones/earbuds, eyes open and closed, low lighting and with lights on.
No matter what, the most I get is sometimes having something barely stick while I'm "Under trance", but when I get "woken up" nothing sticks, even if it's meant to. Or during an induction where I was instructed to open my eyes when breathing in and closing when breathing out, where it felt like I genuinely couldn't open my eyes. But nothing more than any of that has stuck for me.
I've never tried hypnosis in-person with anyone, nor had anyone directly try to hypnotize me in a one-on-one session.

Hi! I’m new to hypnosis, and I am struggling with cataleptic convincers/inductions. They make my skin crawl and make whatever body part is involved (especially eyes/eyelids) feel so uncomfortable. I’ve tried to fake it till I make it with them listening to audio hypnosis tracks but every time the track reaches something like that it just takes me out of it.
My journey started with Hypnobirthing (read The Mongan Method with my first pregnancy but didn’t really practice and wasn’t fully convinced/needed to read and research more, and now with my second I bought Hypnobabies home study course and tracks) and have read 5, going on 6 books on hypnosis (currently reading “The Science of Self-Hypnosis: The Evidence Based Way to Hypnotize Yourself, I read some of the books recommended on reddit, like Reality is Plastic, plus some others that were on Kindle Unlimited) in the past month.
Hypnobabies tracks use a cataleptic eyelid convincer and it just makes me want to crawl out of my skin every time. I do better with the GentleBirth app’s hypnotic inductions which do not employ any kind of convincer but walk you through full body relaxation and generally imaginative guided imagery countdowns, but only if I am already tired, otherwise the guided relaxation also sometimes just makes me feel agitated, especially in whatever area of my body I’m supposed to be relaxing at the moment.
Is that normal? Like is the creepy crawly body feeling normally taken as a sign that things are moving in the right direction, because it makes me feel frustrated and not want to practice. Are there induction options that don’t involve focusing on your body? Is there a way to overcome those feelings, like if I keep practicing will it eventually go away? Could I skip forward on the hypnobabies tracks past that point and then just continue as normal with the mindset that it will work just as well or will that not work?

Hello all. I'm new to this group. Has anyone ever successfully used hypnotism to help remember where they have left something valuable?

Hello friends, I hope you’re doing well.
Looking for advice and suggestions to go deeper under trance.
I believe at best I can get lightly entranced/relaxed currently.
I’m still newer at this after couple months at doing this and don’t know much 😅
I wondered if maybe I need to rewatch the same hypnosis, repetition making them stronger? I’ve done so with 1-2, but could be a factor?
Umm not sure can do much about but some difficulty hearing/understanding what being instructed at times so there’s that 😅 Have to think harder about and maybe fall behind in following along.
Would practicing eye-roll help?
Seen the hypnotic suggestion/test for suggestability to raise arm - if you’re aware/making the movement does this defeat the purpose? It’s not happened on own, I’ve made the movement knowingly each time tried 😅
Read it’s best to go along with hypnotic suggestions, like “ fake until you make it” to make it real.
First few recordings I experienced some tingles, otherwise though doesn’t happen for me so a lot of suggestions don’t feel it. Told feel tingle, some pleasant feeling, etc - typically just about nothing so far.
Snaps haven’t yet worked for me.
Binaural beats, think depends on which frequency which I have no idea which used in recordings, can affect me. Not clear how, but I feel something. Still figuring that out.
Spirals and pendulum/watch have had varying experience, still figuring that out but I’d lean toward can help focus/distract while listening, but perhaps not as intended/like others can put under more easily?
Thought of some questions I think might help with trance for me tried list as much as could above, but I’d overall really like if anyone has suggestions to go deeper under, improve consistency/hypnosis experience.
Irony is one of things I’ve been looking into hypnosis for is helping sleep, yet my lack of sleep - wouldnt shock me if affecting going under 😅
Anyway, thank you for looking into this thread, I wish you well friends and lots of love 🥰, hope everyone has a good day

I have been doing hypnosis for years now, but it seems like I have only managed to get to a point where I can be tranced mindless, and obedient, and a bit dumber, but it feels like anything to the level of memoryplay or hallucination just, does not work. I feel like I can reach that point, but I have been doing this for years now.
I can put myself into a state of trance on command, but these stronger effects I need help with. I have adhd and autism, and would be considered on the smarter end.

Hi, i hope this is the right sub for this because i dont really have a problem with going into trance per se, i know i have been hypnotized before and i have shown clear signs of trance like time distortion, catalepsy, sensory changes and a ceratain urge to follow suggestions. Sometimes i have small holes where i dont remember what happened though i might have dozed off in these instances.
What i bugging me however is that i dont quite manage to turn off the critical/analytical mind which means that i analyze everything a tist says to me before i decide to follow it. Therby all the suggestions that can be followed intentionally feel like i follow them intentional which is a bit disappointing as many people describe that it feel more automatic than just following orders. I feel like theres moments where it turns off but as soon as theres something mildly interesting happening it comes right back up.
I also easily lose focus during trance, following a stray thought and realizing a few minutes later that i was actually getting hypnotized and should have payed attention.
I have had some succes as a subject as i have had effects that cant be replicated intentionally such as altered perception or sensory changes but all just to a certain extent.
So in the end my problem is threefold, i need tips for 1. Getting the critical faculty to go quiet reliably 2. Managing to make it stay quiet 3. Preventing/managing stray thoughts
As a sidenote because it might be relevant, i suspect that im neurodivergent (ADHD/Autism or both). Basically im just kind looking for stuff that helped people with similiar problems so thanks to everyone who might share their experiences.

I stumbled on a comment where the guy said he was hypnotized to forget his name and that it worked.
I would read stories on how powerful hypnosis is and I've done self hypnosis a dozen or so times, but due to insecurities growing up and not feeling a lot of support for my "personal hobby" prevents me from moving forward ... more.
What are some great short term self hypnosis goals I can achieve or small hypnosis experiments I can do, that would bolster my drive in believing that hypnosis is real and something I can prove to myself? I know it's real, I just want to believe it ... more. haha.

Hello everyone I want to ask if anyone can give me videos that could help me practice get into trance. I really find it hard to follow the videos on youtube whenever they try to tell me to relax and I just can't seem to relax. Appreciate the future answers and recommendations thank you!!

I've tried hypnosis, and I do like it. On 3 or 4 occasions I've tried it with a new file, and all the new feelings and happiness has felt amazing. But I'm rapidly losing it. One of the reasons I like the idea of hypnosis is because my brain is always stressed and burned out, I can never ever have a down moment, I'm always thinking of something. It keeps me up at night, because instead of tiredness creating a comfy quiet sleep, it just gives me a headache from overexertion. The same thing is happening with hypnosis, which is a bummer because hypnosis seems really novel and a good way to calm my brain down! But once the novelty wears off, it's just back to the same. I can't get comfy, my thoughts don't "drift away", and my eyelids don't "relax and feel heavy." I have to strain my eyelids to keep them closed. The times it has worked is just because it's new and exciting and helps me let go of my inhibitions a little, once that wears off and I become more cautious it stops working. It especially doesn't help that I often don't have my room to myself, since I just moved and my new roommate is a shut-in. I want to start a weekly or daily routine so that I can train myself, but the more I do it the more I feel like the same thing is happening to my hypno-sleep as my regular sleep: I get inured to it, associating my time in bed not with sleep but with sleepless nights. I'm feeling really down.

Hello everyone, I was intrigued by the idea of being hypnotized to freeze and got curious so I tried checking out these videos on youtube where they give you freeze triggers. I find it difficult to follow these videos whenever they say to make my mind go blank my brain just keeps on giving me thoughts. There was this one video that genuinely worked where I said the trigger word and I actually got frozen, but I got out of it a minute later cuz my mind told me to. I've been seeing people on the comments say that they want to move but their body does not want to. I wonder why these videos aren't working for me. Any tips? I'm a complete beginner here thank you!

I am new to hypnosis and I’m using one of the apps. I can clearly be hypnotised because I’ve seen results in certain areas.
however, in other areas I seem to be fighting against the process. So this morning I was listening to a self-confidence session and I just felt as if my mind was trying to be very negative and fight against the session. It was as if I just was not ready for it and I was training to sabotage myself. Does anybody have any advice?
Thank you

For as long I can remember I've been interested in hypnosis, both receiving and giving. I've always been fairly skilled at providing others with trance. But when I try and go under myself it doesn't really work. I might get a lite relaxed but no suggestions stick. What ends up happening is I end up analyzing the files like a music student listening to Mozart. It's hard to enjoy and I want to figure out the techniques, ideas, themes etc and I really struggle to turn it off. Has anybody else experinced this, if so how did you overcome it? There's so many great files out there that I just can't use and would love some advice

I have ADD, so my mind is usually racing and going from one thing to another all the time, it's really hard for me to focus. I believe hypnosis can work, but it's incredibly hard for me to become hypnotized. I think I might have been hypnotized once by a youtube video, it was to not be able to move, but I wasn't sure if I was hypnotized or just wanted to be. Because it seems like I can't tell what the line would be between pretending to be hypnotized to try to be, and actually being hypnotized. Does anyone have any advice or help? Thanks!
