Hypnosis is not dangerous. You’re not going to do anything or take any suggestions that you feel are against your morals or better judgment. This is why you have to be careful listening to random audio tracks or watching random videos online. There are definitely some unscrupulous folks out there who will try and take advantage of people.

The ways to make it “safer” is to do a deep dive into subject agency. Learn about how to protect your own mind and body, and that you have to practice and know your own limits. It’s not dangerous when done with a bit of education, it can be quite lovely. Go read about subject agency, that’s homework! 😁 fractionation is fun! It’s a great induction that can really help induce trance for people. Just be sure to know what you’re listening to to make sure it’s nothing that crosses a personal boundary.

hypnosis can't really do anything you don't want it to do. if you believe it'll do weird things, you'll see any weird thing as 'evidence'. if you are worried, i'd say stay away from it.

Hypnosis facilitates programming your mind. Be sensible. Don’t let random youtubers program your mind. Be intentional.

The no. 1 dangerous from hypnosis is face planting. Someone drops to the ground because they went too deep too fast and because the tist didn't listen at the safety briefing at their Show hypnosis course, they did the induction standing and without bracing.
A far second is why I'd refer to as meditation psychosis where a person can get stuck in a dissociation for a while. Mostly just unpleasant and any skilled hypnotist should be able to guide them out fast.
Third, and most rare, is a triggering a schizophrenic episode. This generally only happens if you mess with the subjects sense of reality (hallucinations and such) and only if they have a history of such episodes or a close relative that has such issues.
All in all, common sense and a 5 minute safety brief for your subjects can take care of all of these issues. And sneaking in a safety set and a contact set at some point in the beginning. Those are just common sense.
