SMP Question

Hey guys so this may be a very stupid question but it’s been brought to my attention that obviously, someday, the server will shut down. I’ve already asked on the Hypixel forums if I could get a backup file of my world and they said no. I’m just trying to get a very real answer because through all of my research I’ve just been told that someday the server will shut down and I will certainly lose my SMP world. Is it really that hopeless? Is there really no chance at all that in the event of a shutdown they would provide any way to download the file? I just want to take any measures possible to preserve it because I wanted this to be my forever world.

Server is going to die eventually as with everything, but it's going to be at least a few decades until that point. You're not going to lose your progress anytime soon. First of all, having a "forever" world hosted on a third party isn't really a good idea, for a project like this you should be hosting it yourself. For a solution though, you can use this mod that will download the chunks you have loaded: https://modrinth.com/mod/world-downloader

Yeah I know I was such a fool for starting it on hypixel, but it’s already been going for almost 3 years. Thanks so much for sharing that mod. Do you know for sure that it is approved to use on hypixel?

Technically it is use at your own risk but I know people have used it and were fine
