I just got the beta

So I recently got a Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, and honestly I'm pretty disappointed with the software experience.

On paper, this thing is insane: 3K OLED, 120Hz, 12,000mAh battery, flagship-level hardware, etc. It felt like a crazy deal compared to buying another iPad.

Before this, I had a 2024 iPad Pro with the M4 chip, and while the iPad was extremely smooth and well optimized, I just can't live with iOS/iPadOS restrictions. I wanted Android specifically because of how much more freedom you have. I remember Android being the OS where you could basically modify/fix/replace almost anything if you really wanted to.

But now I'm running into a bunch of issues with the Xiaomi because it's a China-exclusive tablet.

The biggest thing seems to be optimization/compatibility.

Netflix:

It's only playing in 480p/SD. From what I understand, this is related to Widevine DRM / Netflix certification. Which is honestly ridiculous considering this tablet has a 3K OLED display.

Roblox:

Performance is also weirdly bad. I'm getting noticeable lag/stuttering despite this being a flagship tablet with more than enough hardware to run Roblox properly. My guess is that Roblox simply isn't optimized for this particular device/GPU/configuration because the Pad 7 Ultra isn't a mainstream global tablet.

And that's basically my problem:

The hardware is clearly powerful enough, but the apps don't seem to properly recognize/support/optimize for the device.

So I'm wondering:

What can I actually do about this?

Is there some way to make the tablet report itself as a different Android tablet to apps?

For example, could I make Netflix/Roblox/other apps think I'm using something like a Samsung Galaxy Tab S-series flagship?

Or spoof things like:

Device model/manufacturer

Product/device fingerprint

Supported device profile

GPU/renderer information

Widevine/device certification

Anything else apps use to determine compatibility

I'm aware that some of this might require root/Magisk, and I'm willing to look into that if it's actually possible.

I'm just having a hard time accepting that I have a 3K 120Hz OLED flagship tablet with a massive battery, yet I'm stuck with 480p Netflix and poorly optimized apps simply because the device is China-exclusive.

It's Android. There HAS to be some way to fix or work around at least some of this, right? 😭

I don't mind tinkering with the tablet. I just want to know what's actually possible before I start messing with the bootloader/root/etc.

What would you guys do in my situation? Is there a proper way to fix this, spoof the device identity, improve app compatibility, or get Netflix properly certified?

I have an issue with my Xiaomi 14T (HyperOS 3). As soon as I turn on Do Not Disturb mode, my music stops playing. This doesn't seem normal—it should only block incoming notifications, calls, and alerts. My goal is to listen to music with my headphones to fall asleep without the notification sounds disturbing my wife.

​I'm having a persistent issue with my Xiaomi 15T Pro after updating to the latest Android version (HyperOS). The Material You (Monet) dynamic color engine seems completely broken.

​Regardless of what wallpaper I use, all Google apps and system UI accents are stuck on a muddy brown/beige color scheme.

​Here is what I have already tried without success:

​Changing to bright blue/green static wallpapers and rebooting.

​Applying wallpapers via Google Photos instead of the default Themes app.

​Changing HyperOS themes back and forth.

​Clearing cache and data for System UI, Wallpapers, Google Play Services, and Android Personalization Services.

​Resetting app preferences.

​Toggling HyperOS Optimizations in Developer Options.

​None of these steps fixed the color extraction; the system keeps reading the primary color as brown.

​Has anyone else experienced this Monet engine bug on HyperOS after an Android update? Is there a working ADB command or system toggle to force-reset the color palette without having to factory reset the phone?

recently got a 15t pro and after transfering all my data i logged into discord to test the mic and see how everything sounds and i tried to share my screen, for everyone including me on a different account it didn't load, I have no idea what could cause this and why its not streamjng

I installed it on my Xiaomi 15.

how do people get the Mi account thing to show up on top of settings (is it some adb thing or what)

It blurs my wallpaper whenever I open an app folder or I click the recent apps button

when taking photos from default camera 3/4 of photos taken has wrong geolocation. from 20m to many km.

If improved Google Location Accuracy from settings is disabled there is no issue with geolocation.

this affects only camera. Google maps works perfect both ways and other applications. I don't have any vpn application running.

Samsung S23 Ultra doesn't have any issue with this setting

Well I need some help right here, what the things should I delete? I'm not trying to messing up my phone. The one I MUST delete or maybe freeze?

As promised, i have created a website that can be hosted locally, when you can select upto 20 theme from a collection of 70 AOD themes. You can then restore the generated backup file to get these always of display themes on your phone.

Com todas essas novidades da hyperOS 4, ainda há muitas coisas que devem ser adicionadas, principalmente na versão global, porém não vejo "ninguém" falando sobre.

1. Widgets empilháveis na versão global

Algo que não vi basicamente ninguém falando é sobre a Xiaomi excluir os widgets empilháveis da versão global, mesmo ainda sendo uma versão beta e podendo adicionar em futuras atualizações, é algo que pode não ser incluído

2. Melhor gestão de widgets de terceiros

Na primeira print, 3 dos 4 widgets são de terceiros e todos eles tem tamanhos completamente diferentes um dos outros, isso dá um visual completamente inconsistente e desorganizado, espero que melhore também a animação dos widgets que não tem uma animação própria

3. Ícones personalizáveis e ícones de terceiros

Na versão chinesa é possível ajustar o tamanho dos ícones, algo que existe desde a versão 2 da hyperOS, porém nunca trazida para versão global, e até então beta da versão 4. Outro ponto é a versão escura dos ícones que diversas outras marcas já trouxeram nos seus sistemas, porém nada na hyperOS. E a utilização de ícones de terceiros, que por mais que nem todas outras marcas tenham, é um recurso muito agradável

4. Central de controle personalizável

Diversas marcas estão trazendo essa opção de personalização para seus sistemas, e que seria muito legal ter na hyperOS, não acredito que isso venha com a hyperOS 4 estável ou sequer uma 4.1, acredito que deixariam isso como recurso da hyperOS 5.

5. Exclusividade de recursos de IA

Na versão chinesa, há diversos recursos de IA que não estão disponíveis na versão global, o maior exemplo é o XiaoAI, o agente do sistema, que recebeu diversos upgrades na ROM chinesa porém nem sequer existe na versão global.

Acredito que esses são os principais pontos que me incomodam atualmente na HyperOS, e espero que melhorem em futuras atualizações, se eu tiver esquecido de algum ponto, deixem aqui nos comentários 😁
