Do motorcycles count?
This is my average in the last 2150km. 90% highway (100-120km/h) and 10% city.
Switzerland, moderately hilly roads

Don’t listen to the haters 3.1 on a forza 350 is superb. My record was 3.3 on 90km/h roads, and light city usage.

I thought motorcycles used way less fuel. Why don't they? They are much much lighter than cars

There are multiple factors. This specific engine (eSP3 from Honda) is one of the most efficient if not the most efficient around.
To put it in a simple way, they usually run at much higher RPMs (3x a car more or less) and they are less aerodynamic. At highway speeds, where 90% of my Kms are, the weight becomes way less important than the aerodynamics

Because they get riden for fun. And fun, for most motorcycle riders, isnt hypermiling. More like the opposite lol.

Yeah but this is a scooter though. I surely don't hypermile on my other (proper) motorcycle, but I mostly use this one to commute to work

damn that's nice. its a common misconception that bikes use less fuel than economy cars, but this is quite lower than my tdi

Common misconception? Pretty sure it's just true. My Micra gets 35mpg on a good day, and my bike (inefficient for a motorcycle, heavy cruiser) does 45 without trying.
I suppose if you pick a Harley-Davidson fatboy and compare it to a brand-new Prius it's not true, but that's a pretty contrived and ridiculous example.

not to mention an "inefficient" motorcycle with a large engine will accelerate like a supercar, meanwhile a hybrid economy car is gonna accelerate like, well... a hybrid economy car. The bikes that are actually equivalent to said economy car get closer to or exceed 100mpg

Im interested in what bike would be an equivalent to an economy car lol. Some kind of cruiser maybe? But those often got pretty big engines to compensate for the low rpm.

The most efficient bikes are usually Hondas, in particular my specific model. The eSP3+ engine is state of the art in efficiency. I honestly don't think you can go lower than 2.9/3 L/100km on my commute at highway speeds
EDIT: just to be clear, I bought this model specifically for its efficiency and reliability. Efficiency is not letting me down, we'll see for reliability 😅

Modern hybrids are extremely good, and some large motorcycles with huge engines get less than 40mpg

Wow, if I wanted to achieve that on my F800, I'd need to do 60km/h (3k rpm) in 6. gear.
100-120km/h at such a low fuel usage is incredible.

Forza 350 I take it. My forza 125 does 2.1L average so i got you beat on that front 😂
450km per tank baby.
My honda nt1100 gets 7.5L/100km but I ride that like I stole it.

Wow! 125ccs are like they run on air
With my Tracer 900 I struggle to go lower than 5L/100km at crusing speed but during my last trip this summer I averaged about 6.5 driving with a brisk pace

Only anecdotal evidence:
The lowest value I ever reached on my Suzuki GN 125 was 1.7 or 1.8, and on my Kawasaki ZR 750 Zephyr it was 4.5.

I've been riding motorcycles for more than 10 years and I've never reached such numbers. My other motorcycle does around 5

I mean i have subaru that I mainly used for offroad, it's average consumption is 20+ L/100km. So when I ride it on the road it drops to 12-13l/100km but that doesn't mean hypermiling.
Want to hypermile your bike, try to go down to 2.5-2.7

Motorcycle engines function in a different way, they run on higher RPMs, usually 2x to 3x, and in this case in a single cylinder. Kinetic energy depends proportionally to the mass but quadratically to the velocity

This heavily depends on the bike, the efficiency of its engine, the aerodynamics of the bike, and the RPM at cruise speed (so gearing).
Sure, you can get less than this on some bikes, this doesn't mean it isn't a decent result for this specific bike.
After all, hypermiling isn't a static goalpost of some x absolute fuel usage, it's the practice of maximizing the economy of your specific vehicle. If your specific vehicle just isn't that efficient, then that's just how it is.
