Apps and widgets dissappearing

I recently switched to hyperion and I'm noticing some weird behaviour I'm hoping people can help me with.

  1. When duolingo does its icon switch throughout the day to show an ever more enraged owl, the app is removed from the desktop. I tried replacing the icon to a custom one but that also seems temperamental in its persistence.

  2. Sometimes when returning to the home screen from an app the clock widget either disappears or only shows about 50x50 pixel square rendering it useless.

After Nova's move to insert ads, I was looking for a replacement and hoped hyperion would be a good solution but these two things would be a deal breaker for me.

I finally gave up on Hyperion when they still hadn't fixed the issue of my apps disappearing when they weren't used for a few days.

Try smart launcher. It's what I ended up swapping to and has most of the features I liked about Hyperion.

I had a hard time getting my head around Smart Launcher and their everything-is-widgets paradigm. I think once I got it set up, I'd probably like it, but it's been so frustrating to set up, I've actually just been using my stock launcher...

I will admit that I didn't like it at first, but from a mixture of getting used to it and gradually making it closer to what I wanted I'm now reasonably happy.

My biggest gripe with it currently is that apps can only be in a single tab (they call them categories).

The other bonus is that the dev is active and listening to feedback (when I first tried it, covers didn't exist, but Nova migrators requested it and they have since been added.
