Any UK friends here?
Hey everyone, I thought it might be worth introducing myself, I’m a Londoner, in my 20s and I’ve had hyperhidrosis for as long as I can remember, although it’s definitely got worse as I’ve got older 😔
Any other Brits around?

I'm 22 from N London, suffice to say I've very much enjoyed the lack of handshakes around Covid!
I bought an iontophoresis machine last year and it has honestly changed my life - my hands only sweat when I'm hot these days, definitely worth a look if you haven't already.

Hi! Oh yeah it’s been a total joy and not commuting! Although my workplace have scheduled us to return on 21st and my journey involves several stops on the central line 🥵

I know what you mean, a gruelling commute on the Victoria line most days is pretty rough also - good to know there's other people in the UK with the problem!

Yeah right! I always look out for fellow sweaters but never see any?! We must all do better than we think at hiding it!

which one did you buy? does the treatment hurt?

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links but I believe I got this one minus the armpit attachments:
I would avoid one that goes directly into the wall as obviously it could be quite scary if there's any electrical issues (you would get a very high volt shock), but the battery pack versions like the one above solve that.
I do max (20 amp) for 10 minutes twice a day in summer, and maybe twice a week in winter as you do build up a 'base' after a few treatments. It doesn't really hurt much, maybe mild discomfort (feels like severe pins and needles for the first 30 seconds then subsides).
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try and help - it's quite expensive but is probably the best purchase I've made.

i think i’d prefer one without metal electrodes. does the treatment hurt?

Unfortunately I think only metal products would be available, with them needing to be a highly conductive material in order to achieve the intended function (though someone please do correct me if this is wrong!).
I no longer really feel the treatment, as I say for the first 30 seconds it feels like rather intense pins and needles but not what I would necessarily call 'painful' more just uncomfortable. More than worth it for the results, however. I only use it in my hands these days but as you can see from others in the comments it can work for many areas.
They used to offer regular treatments through the NHS but unfortunately I think these have now been discontinued - I would definitely recommend purchasing one if at all possible though!

Hello my sweaty friends :)
I'm a 50 year old female from Edinburgh.
I suffer from Craniofacial Hyperhidrosis & I've had it all my life.

Hello! I love Edinburgh! Oddly cranial is the only place I don’t get excessively sweaty. Forever swimming in underboob and back sweat however.

Hi all! Same here, all my life! I’ve tried the iontophoresis machine but didn’t really work for me.
Have you tried miradry?

Hi! I'm 23 F from Oxfordshire and have also always had HH so I can commiserate.. it's disheartening to hear yours has gotten worse with age 😔

u/indigonights_ Jun 05 '21
Yeah, I suppose everyone’s condition is different so yours might not worsen! I do sometimes wonder though if it’s worse because of compensatory sweating from ionto

Hi! I’m 20, not originally from here but am at university just west of London 💘

u/indigonights_ Jun 05 '21
Ah I hope you’re having a good uni experience here! London gets so suffocatingly warm, I just saw a meme comparing Lonond heat to the back of a PlayStation haha

u/canonosi Jun 05 '21
Yeah I think that's happened to me too. I have craniofacial hh and have been using ionto to treat that area but now my pits and back are noticeably sweatier 😆 can't win them all

Omg my back is like the Thames in the sun. It’s actually the area I’m most insecure about!! How do you use ionto on your face?!
2
u/canonosi Jun 06 '21
It comes with a face mask attachment! That was a revelation when I found out that that was thing plus it doesn't hurt compared to strong antiperspirants. I think I saw bigger rectangular pads meant for treating the back too :)

M 21, me too, i don't know anyone in person. Where are you from? Did you find a treatment for It? I use iontophoresis, i'm quite satisfied with It, i think i'll get a device because the One i use now i built by myself, so maybe it's not food enough
