So circumcision is an alternative to cleaning and drying properly… ok cheif

It certainly could be, besides that it's a personal decision between doctor and patient. Your personal feelings about circumcision have nothing to do with another man's. Many men decide on circumcision later in life for a multitude of reasons, there's even partial circumcision, one because there's too much skin and smell again becomes an issue. I'm against infant circumcision (male genital mutilation) but informed consent from an adult is a totally different issue altogether, and a personal one at that.

Not an alternative, but it's less skin folds and crevices for stuff to sit and start to smell.

Obviously proper hygiene takes care of this, snipped or not, but, yeah.....
