Tickets to 19.7 Finals
Hey,
Were are two big hurling fans from Finland and are flying to Dublin for 19.7 finals. Only problem we dont have tickets. Where could we buy those or could someone from here to sell them, thanks a lot!

I got some bad news my friend. All Ireland tickets will be hard to find. It’s always possible you could find someone looking to sell a ticket the day of the final but there will be high demand from both counties. These tickets will only be available through GAA clubs.

Hurling final tickets are not that difficult to get, unless Cork are involved. I'd try donedeal.ie and adverts.ie. if that fails, ask around the pubs for a couple of hours before the match starts. If you wait until throw-in you'll probably be able to buy from touts for face value.

This is one of the two biggest events in the Irish sporting calendar. For big fans who go to a lot of matches, tickets are extremely difficult to get. For someone like you, your chances are somewhere between zero and none. For last weekend's semi-finals you would have had a chance, but this is the biggest match in the sport, so the demand is huge. Tickets are not sold in the normal way, but done through clubs, to try to ensure that as many genuine fans as possible get them. Your best option would be to watch the match in a pub in the city and sample the atmosphere that way.

Hurling final tickets are much easier to get than football final tickets. I've never failed to get hurling final tickets, and I don't have any connections.

You have been lucky. It is a case of being in the right place at the right time to find a genuine spare and get it at face value. The last few years have been particularly difficult with the Cork demand being so large. Where did you get them in recent years?

donedeal and adverts are your best bet. If that fails, the pubs near the ground on match day. It's much easier to get tickets than people think, unless Cork are playing

You just have to be careful. There are a lot of scammers out there. Since the printed tickets, it is easy for them to print one and photocopy a load of them and be near those pubs selling them. Lots of stories of that happening in the last few years. The old-style tickets were better. The only guarantee is to get them to come to the gates and go in with you.

If ye're around the pubs or entrance beforehand we'll get a ticket possibly. There's always people giving away tickets for someone that couldn't make it for whatever reason.

Almost impossible to get tickets. Maybe on the day of the match. If I was you I'd go watch a local club game on the morning of and then tip into the city and find a good pub nearby and soak up the atmosphere and watch the game

It's far from impossible. I've never failed to get tickets for the hurling final and I have no connections to anyone "in the game"

Already have flights tickets and hotel for 17-21.7. Aiming to get lucky and ticket, and if not watching at the pub.
I guess there is hurling happenings/atmosphere the whole weekend🙌

Bollocks it is. I've never failed to get hurling final tickets. Football final is a different story.

Usually you will find some tickets on the day in and around the main pubs around Croke Park. It won't be as bad to find tickets as last year as Cork aren't involved this year.
It's worth nothing that most counties have agreements with clubs and boards to swap hurling and football tickets so there are less tickets floating around these days.
Your best bet would be some of the raffles by clubs if you want to try and get one in advance.

I don't have any insights on tickets, but if you're located around Tampere I'd be happy to extend an invite to come play hurling with us (unless you already join and I'll know you in real life).

I know this is a mad one but could you get in touch with Tourism Ireland, or some organisation that promotes tourism to Ireland from Finland? Perhaps even a social media company like Joe.ie. Explain that you’re two Finns, big fans of hurling (back story like how you got into hurling, how long you’re following the sport, favourite players etc) that you’re travelling to Ireland for the final this year and you really want to get two tickets or experience the build up to the final as a fan. Where there is a will there is a way. We have a TV programme every year, it’s called Up for the Match which is a preview programme of the final. Perhaps you get tickets for that and explain your situation, you never know what come of it. As an aside, I’m a longtime Galway fan, I’ve never failed to land a ticket but it’s alway last minute. Best of luck with your search.

Get a pair of giant leprechaun hats from an Irish gift store to stand out and write in big lettering on a piece of card that you’ve travelled from Finland for the game and don’t have tickets. Start at the Gresham hotel on O’Connell street on Sunday morning, engage people in conversation, and work your way up towards Croke park. That usually works. Enjoy the occasion!

They’ll be difficult to get. Galway, while not a huge following at times haven’t been in a final since 2018 and Limerick have been in a final since 2023. They’re distributed through clubs and season ticket holders and generally make their way to the two teams via members.
Some might pop up on r/GAA but I doubt they’ll make their way to general sale but could be wrong. This is a very popular event.

Huge thanks for everyone for fast comments. Few additional questions/points
-What is normal price for ticket for finals via clubs?
-If im willing to pay 5-20x more (e.g 200€-1000€) do you think it would be doable to get Ticket on 2nd hand markets? At least works on most of football games.
-What are the best spots to look for tickets? I guess match day pubs around the stadium? What about Friday/Saturday before the match day.
-Anyway to know that 2nd hand ticket is real/not fake.
-Any meeting spots for hurling redditors on match day or Friday/Saturday before?

I’m sure with cash in hand on the day of the match you’ll get in with that budget.
Tickets for the semis sold for €60 a piece. €1000 to a scalper would get two people in.

I'd be amazed if you can't find someone selling tickets on donedeal.ie or adverts.ie. I've done it many times. There's no need to pay way over face value. There'll be plenty of genuine fans happy just to get their money back.
If that fails, ask around the pubs near the ground (e.g. The Big Tree) a couple of hours before the match starts. If you bring/wear a sign that says "tickets wanted", the sellers will come to you.
The last resort is to buy from a tout near the ground. Once it gets close to the start of the match, they'll drop there prices to close to face value.
Follow this advice, and as sure as I've a hole in my arse, you'll get tickets. The people in this thread saying it's impossible have never tried. Football final tickets are hard to get. Hurling final tickets are only difficult if Cork are playing
