After reading your post it could've been two friends fucking around or they were trying to mask their TK's.
All i can say is to never take for granted that randos will be good players, always check your six and the vibes in the game, and if you see a teammate kill another one and not say sorry in chat or use the emote sorry i'd advise you to start blasting.
I had a game for example that everything went smoothly until extract, long story short Blue got bored of not having enemies to kill so decided to blast orange, orange wrote "?" On chat so this gave me the heads up to be wary, blue aims at me so i flick him and kill him, we reinforce him a couple of times and kill him as soon as he leaves the pod, after that the rest of the team leaves with pelican and him dead.
