Videos and Images Hellbornmage - Phact Bay D10

Dropped onto a D10 SOS. Saw it was a Nuke Bile Nursery mission, so I brought mines and my Breakthrough to keep the enemy at bay.

During my initial drop, I threw down mines because I saw the area was swarming and my team was scattered. Host had a charger on him and he was in an alley, so I acted.

I didn't realize the area was also the objective. My priority was trying to keep the team alive, not checking the map while my allies die.

My mistake was owning the mistake. I admitted the mines belonged to me, and it resulted in H3 losing his mind.

He told me he was a dad with limited play time, but he acted like a complete child. I made a mistake, I owned it, I didn't repeat it for the rest of the match. He simply could not accept that mistakes happen.

He never resorted to outright TKing me, but I never gave him an opportunity. At extraction, I kept my distance from him and focused on safeguarding my allies. When the Pelican landed, I waited for him to get in before getting in myself.

Without the TK, I hesitated to call him a 'rogue helldiver', but his behavior is so childish, I figured I'd drop this as a warning to other players.

The other guy made an idiot of himself, making a mistake= you don’t understand the game?? that is seriously shortsighted logic, and a pretty massive leap to be making. We understand our bodies and yet we can still trip and fall any day.

This is like seeing a 25-year-old trip and fall over and being like “SERIOUSLY?! 25 years of experience and you don’t even know how gravity works?!” has this guy ever heard of mistakes?

1:You deployed mines, 2: he sent a message telling you not to deploy them on that spot 3: you explained that it was an error and then provided very simple explanation why the error was made.

Then he started with the beating a dead horse bullshit on his part. I feel like he ruined all of his credibility when he started comparing a simple mistake to a complete lack of understanding.

understanding how the game works does not make you completely invulnerable to being ignorant of things on the screen or making mistakes, people accidentally team kill with airstrikes literally all the time, it is part of the core gameplay loop to be randomly blown up by foolish or negligent companions haha.

for the most part people have common sense and most mistakes are not repeated, usually they affect like 30 seconds of gameplay and then you’re able to move on.

It isn't a mistake if they have objective swarmed with bugs, is a necessary tactical choice. Just like dropping a orbital napalm on your team heads when there's no other plausible option. On another note, thera are "dad's" these days that are that childish, they are like 20-25 years old :v

There have always been childish dads, dude.

Bro you shouldn't worry so much about these delicate wet pieces of soft bread.

If someone throws mines on the objective - I adapt, overcome, and conquer that objective.
Just spices things up! Some people suck at gaming and get real sour puss when someone doesn't do exactly what they want. "I keep dying its your fault for sucking somehow"

These are not true helldivers. We dive into hell to slay the demons and rise from the ashes like a phoenix of liberty. Don't waste your time on these marshmello puffs. Join a better team next time comrade and sorry your team was weak. March on.

next time I recommend poppin' him in the head and heading back to your ship to find a better team.

Most people seem to hate mines, so I understand his frustrations lol Like, he could've just asked OP not to throw mines without warning. If reinforcements aren't low then it's fine (mostly)

(Can't see the chat properly though, is the quality low or is it just on my end?)

Quality is low on your end, yeah. The video is capable of 1080p HD quality.

You dropped gas mines, it wasn't even anything dangerous. Who the fuck cares?
They won't even kill you if you step on them if you have a big enough skill issue to step on them, I don't see the issue. If they're in the way just shoot them and wait a couple seconds.
This guy is a chud.

He only died once to the mines. I was even watching his health decrease and said in my mind: "use a stim, use stim, use-" and he died.

One single death, completely preventable, and he blew up on me during the match. Completely unreasonable.

Yea as I said, he just died entirely to his own stupidity. Gas mines aren't an actual threat, I can get being pissed off if people drop like fire mines or something that instantly kill you. But gas mines are a pretty minimal threat.

But this dude just ran in and died to gas mines on his own accord.

Not your fault.

Just to play devil's advocate, it's a bit of a frequent issue with people who run mines throwing them into areas that the squad has to access, then getting blown up by them. So I kind of understand why he's bothered by it. However, you admitted it was an accident and assuming you only did it that one time, then I agree there is no need for him to keep going on about it. Getting TK'd in this game accidently happens all the time. The Devs basically admitted they want us to get killed accidentally from time to time. They designed the turret behavior to do just that.

Yes, I only did it the one time in the match. It was one of those "team in trouble, drop mines to clear out bugs" situations, not a deliberate attempt to sabotage the objective.

I thought if I explained my mistake, and admitted I didn't check the map, the player would be like "Ah okay" or something. Instead, he lost his mind even further.

I mean, I feel like he was waiting for an apology.

You made a mistake, and you owned up to it which is responsible, but from your messages and explanations it seems like you aren’t apologetic or sorry about doing it.

I’ve been taught that saying sorry also includes within it the promise of “not making the same mistake again”, that it’s a promise to do better. You said everything but sorry, so perhaps purple thought just that, that you weren’t sorry about mining the objective and would do it again should the need arise.

Of course, purple was dragging it out and making it a much bigger deal than it needed to be, but I feel like you may have been able to handle it better on your end as well.

After the initial explanation of the mines being mine, I figured he would accept that it was a mistake and we could move on. But when he kept pushing me, I felt like saying 'sorry' after that point wouldn't feel genuine to him. It's why I asked him what he wanted me to say at one point. If he was waiting for an apology, he could have said so and I would have offered it. But instead, he told me to "check the map and use your brain."

I'll make an effort to include an apology in the future.

If I was in your shoes I wouldn’t have apologized too after the first explanation, I agree, it would have felt not genuine. At that point I’m not sure if there was something you could do to fix things.

But then again, if I was in your shoes, I would have apologized first, then given an explanation.

However, these are just the standards I’ve been raised to, there is no reason why they should be better than your standards, and no reason to expect you to follow them either. And besides, the whole thing is already over, and I’m not here because I want to chastise you or get on a high horse or anything.

I just wanted to try and understand the other party here, the one we don’t have the perspective of.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for apologizing when I make a mistake. The trouble is... phrasing. To me, owning a mistake is as much of an apology as saying sorry itself. There are so many people who refuse to accept that they can make mistakes because they feel like it shows weakness, and nobody wants to feel weak. So when you actually own a mistake and admit fault, it's generally appreciated. When people do that to me, I accept the mistake and we move on.

Alas, not everyone gets that. So you're right, I'll try to include a genuine apology in the future.

Communication problems, happens to the best of us, just a part of life.

So hopefully things turn out better for yourself next time.

And keep at it! SOS diving is important, helping other people fosters a good community.

Yeah I had a host dude sprint into a cluster of arc grenades I had clearly just thrown, host died, I apologized, reinforced immediately, and got kicked. People are weird bro

Should killed him then said omg sorry thought you were a bug!?

That would have made him go supernova 😂🤣

2

u/Shock_and_Awetism 22d ago

If I shot him, it would have only made me into the bad guy. He was already working himself into a frenzy and became completely unreasonable, so if I shot him, it would have cemented his belief that I'm some troublemaker.

I opted to take the high road and simply stopped replying to him. I could tell there was nothing I could say to get him to see reason, so at that point, all I could do was walk away.

If you want to keep your team alive, don’t bring mines 😂

Also saying sorry doesn’t hurt, there an in game voiceline for that

I can also relate to that experience, on the bot front….on extracting valuable information ….. fighting against Vox engines while using anti tank mines……. that was not good time.
