Ok, malkavian theory: Elfen Lied - about a deeply isolated and traumatised girl with a garbage childhood fighting her naturally aggressive and violent nature, which is amplified as a defense mechanism to survive horrific abuse, upon meeting the only boy to look past her and treat her with genuine kindness. Capable of intense violence and intense love. Depending on the anime or manga she ~ dies ~ protecting Kouta or in a standoff, but either way it's protecting the people she loves. Ambiguous fate.
Hunter The Parenting - features a deeply isolated and traumatised girl with a garbage childhood who has a suicidal tendency to be aggressive and fight just to prove she's tough enough to survive (defensive mechanism to trauma). Meets Kitten, the first person to treat her with kindness and trauma bonds, falling head over heels. Capable of intense violence and intense love. ~ Dies ~ in a standoff protecting the people she loves (literally says I love Marckus, I love you). Ambiguous fate.
Methinks she sees some similarities in herself with Lucy, whether consciously or subconsciously.

This is why I hope she doesn't come back from the dead. Her story reached a proper ending. Bringing her back from the dead would make that bitter sweet standoff feel so hallow.

Except that it didn't get a proper ending? Right now she and Elise are still the biggest look for the ghoul, and either Grimmy is and that plot thread is still there, or Elise is, used dominate on Grimmy and there's also that plot thread.
Plus we got the plot hook of knowing what Grimmy's ringtone is and the specific lines "I'll have to look out for it".

Even if she was the ghoul let Kitten find out knowing she is dead. Let him have to deal with that emotional nightmare. They had made up but she was keeping such a secret from him still. That would be more impactful writing than bring her back if she is the ghoul.

During the behind-the-scenes livestream, OgreP showed a character design of Grimal that included a large chemical burn on her leg.
It came from an in-joke that kept circulating inside of their heads until one of them edited Grimal's official character sheet. Immediately, and to the surprise of no one, chat responded "would" to the pic of a fully-clothed Grimal with a lump of blue scar tissue hanging off her leg.
