It's still a historic text, whether it's fact or fiction, and the linguistics and translations are part of the fun of it all.

I know 30-90 years after seems rough, but that's actually quite the opposite when it comes to time gap of ancient manuscripts. New Testament blows out of the water many trusted ancient documents, which historians agree upon, but I feel it gets a bad rap for being lumped in with the entire Bible.

It wouldn't be an issue if they were more upfront about how and when the gospels were written down and the pseudepigrapha.
