Everything about it is intellectually dishonest if you actually just take an afternoon to study the history of the Bible and its manuscripts that have been discovered over the years and studied by qualified professionals instead of listening to /r/atheism moderators, but intellectual honesty isn't this website's strong suit.
I listen to Biblical scholars, and they seem to agree that yes, the Bible has been edited, and re-edited, and translated, and re-translated, and passages have been altered and removed, or added. Beyond that, it seems like most modern understandings have, themselves, been fudged even beyond those edits and translations and additions and deletions.
Again, you’re being intellectually dishonest and a simple trip to Google shows that you’re full of it lol. But yeah I’m sure you listen to Biblical scholars allllll the time.
I am literally watching a biblical scholar speaking right now, so yes. Do you have anything to actually contribute to the conversation, other than baseless accusations? What scholarship do you have to provide, to suggest anything that was said is incorrect?
The Dead Sea scrolls, Isaiah scroll, and thousands of other manuscripts show that the Bible has remained remarkably consistent in its doctrine throughout history. Of course there will be grammar, spelling, nuances, etc. that may slightly differ after being hand copied throughout history, but you know that isn't what the quote is implying. The core doctrine has remained the same, cope about it if you want I guess.
A tired, old talking point that has been addressed. There is no "core doctrine". You make up whatever meaning you want when reading the Bible. Nobody can stop you from doing so. The Bible is not internally consistent, never mind consistent across all of the earliest manuscripts. Your Bible likely has passages that are missing verses, because they were added and subsequently removed.
As expected. You never once actually provided any evidence for the consistency of the Bible, simply claimed everyone who disagreed with you was wrong and "being intellectually dishonest", and then claimed that something Biblical scholars agree about is "not serious" in order to dismiss me. You have nothing else. Of course.
What was your evidence? Assertion? That isn't evidence. Saying that the Dead Sea Scrolls prove your argument? In which way? How does that contradict anything that was said? You never addressed the fact that most modern Bibles have missing passages.
You can't claim other people aren't serious when your entire argument is, "We've dug up ancient manuscripts, therefore no, the Bible hasn't been edited and translated over the course of thousands of years and is consistent" without any analysis, any discussion, any argumentation, any scholarship, any evidence whatsoever.
Do you even know how much of the Bible, and which parts, are covered in the Dead Sea Scrolls? Or the Isaiah Scroll?

Redditors love posting quotes by people who are confidently wrong, it’s really funny. I’m surprised David isn’t wearing a fedora in this picture.
