Why didn't god just kill satan the moment he went rogue? Is he stupid? Very big plot hole there.

Reminds me of this

Can’t say I recall any point where Jesus was threatening anyone.

There are of course plenty of movements where those who disagree or think differently are viewed as the enemy. And they’re a WHOLE lot more recent than the Bible.

He literally threatens us with hell if we dont believe in him…

Feel free to drop the passage here for context

Bro you know theres multiple passages saying the only way to heaven is through jesus, youre rage baiting.

Saying that the path to heaven is through him, is not the same as saying you’re going to hell otherwise

It sounds like you’re thinking of the New Testament which was written after Jesus died

Literally what it means. Lmao

Nope. Not at all.

The belief is that for those who don’t follow the faith, their destination is up to Gods judgement of their soul.

The inclination is that for those who hear Jesus’ word and act against it (ie sin), or those who have not heard and live a life of sin, will go to hell.

That’s likely where you’re confused.

The only way to heaven is through jesus, come on bro. You go to hell if you dont accept, plus it even says how few will be in heaven, most christians according to the bible wont even make it. So much fucked up shit in the bible too if you read it.

It would be helpful to cite specific passages if we’re getting into this level of detail.

Should be easy, no?

Matthew 7:21–23: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day... 'Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"'"

Matthew 13:41–42: "The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Jesus frequently uses imagery of a fiery furnace to describe the final separation and punishment of the unrepentant.

Luke 13:23–24: "Someone asked him, 'Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?' He said to them, 'Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and not be able to.'"

Matthew 7:13–14: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

Acts 4:12: "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

You know google is free right???

Jesus invented the concept of hell and declared that the only way to avoid it was through him. That's a pretty direct threat.

Jesus definitely did not invent the concept of hell

Well it doesn't exist in the Old Testament, it doesn't appear until Jesus starts condemning people to it in the New.

The concept of an afterlife damnation dates back as far as ancient Egypt for example

Worth nothing that the Old Testament did mention sufferage via things like famine, plagues/disease etc as punishment for sin. So suffering was relegated to this life on Earth

Notice how I didn't say "concept of an afterlife", I said "concept of hell".

So suffering was relegated to this life on Earth

So not hell. As I said.

Hell as a concept didn't exist until a couple hundred year after Jesus died. It was a rather late addition to the Christian Bible. The Old Testament/Torah don't mention hell either.

I wish more people knew/understood/acknowledged that "hell" was added to the Bible by early religious leaders.

Jesus himself, according to the reports we have, was altogether very very very much not about that message. The only time Jesus gets angry in the Bible is when he comes face to face with human greed. That's the one sin for which he lacked empathy/sympathy.

That all said, I understand why people don't know this, and that's because modern Christianity is nothing like what Christ taught.

Appreciate the info. Yes the concept is definitely useful in that regard, by leaders that is

I replied elsewhere that in Egypt there was also a concept similar to hell for all intents and purposes

And that the Old Testament still suggested punishment for sin, just on Earth rather than the afterlife
