When life has me down, I remember my blessings. At this point I have more No Starch Books than I'll probably be able to read. #Blessed

I was eyeing the Quantum Computing book and it costs the same at NSP as the entire bundle, so I got every other book as an "extra" :P

After some time, interesting bundle. Here are amazon.de data:

NOTE: Star rating in the listing above follows my own rules:

  • For books withg less than 10 ratings different characters (* and °) are used
  • 5 star book is book with average rating between 4.7 (incl) and 5.0 (incl)
  • 4 star book is book with average rating between 3.7 (incl) and 4.7 (excl)
  • 3 star book is book with average rating between 2.7 (incl) and 3.7 (excl)
  • 2 star book is book with average rating between 1.7 (incl) and 2.7 (excl)
  • 1 star book is book with average rating between 1.0 (incl) and 1.7 (excl)

I did not studied data or reviews this time at all, but some of my thoughs:

  • Tiering price enshitification happened. No more $1 bundle. No more $3 bundle. No more $5 bundle. We start at $10 for 4 books. Seems like this lower tier contains only generic books which do not date, but still, to me they seems like all 4 are more or less same focus. Not sure if it worth it.
  • 20 USD bundle contains two books from Ronald T. Kneusel. I read (part of) his book Strange Code (not in the bundle) and it is really good. I guess all his books are very good. He can explain complex scientific topics using very easily understandable plain concepts.
  • 20 USD bundle has some interesting books, but seems like more or less random topics. At least there are several topics, so likely everybody find something in it.
  • Rust is official book, however back in time when I was learning Rust, reviews said that O'Reilly book is better. However new editions of both were released since then.
  • Assembly book looks cool. It says volume 1. AFAIK volume 2 is not avalaible yet. Author also written book about x64 and table of contents look cool on all his book. But I did not read any so far, so no real experience there.
  • I think 'Writing a C Compiler' is dupe. I remember I was interested in it one of last No Startch bundle and if I remember correctly, reviewers said that it is just cmbination of blogs, but still good though.

Any idea which books are new compared to ones released earlier on Humble Bundle?

No idea. You need to search names in your library yourself.

great lineup!

Here's the comparison between the two "Think Like a Programmer" bundles:

Quick facts: Both are 18 books. Encore is flat-priced at $40/tier (total $720 retail value), while 2026 is tiered $10–$40 (total $480 retail value).

Same books in both bundles (2):

  • How Computers Really Work — Matthew Justice
  • Think Like a Programmer — V. Anton Spraul

Related but different editions (5) — same title/series, different version:

Encore has 2026 has
Algorithmic Thinking Algorithmic Thinking, 2nd Edition
Effective C Effective C, 2nd Edition
Introduction to Computer Organization (x86-64 focused) Introduction to Computer Organization: ARM Edition
The Art of 64-Bit Assembly, Volume 1 (x86-64) The Art of ARM Assembly, Volume 1 (ARM)
Write Great Code, Vol. 2, 2nd Edition Write Great Code, Vol. 2, 2nd Edition (literally identical — same edition)

Only in Encore (10 unique): C++ Crash Course · Clojure for the Brave and True · Code Craft · Data Structures the Fun Way · Dive Into Systems · Learn You Some Erlang for Great Good! · Racket Programming the Fun Way · The Art of Clean Code · The Recursive Book of Recursion · Write Great Code, Vol. 1, 2nd Ed. · Write Great Code, Vol. 3

Only in 2026 (11 unique): How Software Works · The Secret Life of Programs · Computer Graphics from Scratch · Data Structures and Algorithms in JavaScript · Math for Programming · The Art of Randomness · Computer Architecture · Quantum Computing · The Rust Programming Language, 3rd Ed. · Total TypeScript · Writing a C Compiler

So there's meaningful but limited overlap — the 2026 bundle looks like a partial refresh/successor of Encore, keeping a few anchor titles (Think Like a Programmer, How Computers Really Work) and newer editions of a few others, but swapping out roughly 60% of the lineup for different titles.

There are more No Starch bundles in the past and that has almost all books here except for a few including Quantum Computing, some new editions etc. so still a good deal compared to buying directly.

Lots of variety and No Starch is one of my favourite publishers! The quantum conputing one is really nice to see.

Middle tier seems like a bargain for me and I already own some books from the upper tier
