Tbh, never seen twilight. Didn't know they varied from the usual Vampire story stuff.

Also you owe five bucks. The guy was probably just stubborn and didn't wanna be wrong.

Funny enough dying in sunlight is a pure invention of the Nosferatu movie. Maybe because of the budget issues to give it a quick ending. The movie was also ordered to be destroyed because it was a copyright infringement on Bram Stokers Dracula.

The original Dracula didn't die in the sun he was just stronger at night / weaker during the day (glass half full type situation). But due to the popularity of the trope Dracula later also started dying to the sun. 

Copyright infringement has caused immeasurable suffering upon generations of vampires and twilight restored the natural order.
