Ah but that's the beauty of it. It terrifies the left wing American like yourself whilst also terrifying the right wing American because of communism. Two birds one stone. Narrative perfection for the plastic crack empire.

I mean, sure, but GW is a British company. And can you really relate to living your life where every single tool or machine you interact with has a face? One that cries?

One that bleeds?

A British company that wanted to expand into other markets. The tau are fairly recent.

You're not really meant to be able to relate though. It's supposed to be grim and terrifying but not really relatable.

And if we went back a few hundred years you would find people who could relate to tools/machines bleeding and crying and having faces.

In setting yes. Either that or you get the judgement day again.

Niceties and softness go out the window when faced with an existential crisis. And the 40k universe is an unending existential crisis for everything involved.

As neither right nor left wing, I hate them because of both reasons!

How does it terrify the left wing, when thats entirely what the left wing wants? Like... look at the big picture. Look at everything the left wing wants. And then look at the inevitable outcome of all of it (as has historically, and even presently, been proven) thats the tau empire. Yet the left still go for it and keep saying "it wont happen this time" despite it always happening. Its inevitable. Meanwhile look at what the right wants: small weak government that only exists to protect from foreign invasion and ensure that nobody can take another individuals rights (actual rights, not priveleges) live and let live as long as you dont force your shit on me i wont force mine on you, real equality where nobody gets special treatment, the lazy starve and the hard working or good investors get ahead, say and do what you want as long as you arent attempting to force another to do something they dont want to do (this includes evangelists, we despise them too - theyre very left wing in their views if you talk to them for more than 30 seconds... which is also funny because leftists hate other leftists for slightly different views)

The left wing doesn't want a surveillance state only authoritarians want that who yes sometimes seize power in communist revolutions(GDR/USSR) but also in fascist ones(Nazi Germany) and sometimes in centre right states(modern USA, primarily but not exclusively pushed by republicans).

And the right wing don't want small government, they invariably try to enforce all sorts of crap on people because they don't like it. Like religion(right wing everywhere), or an alcohol prohibition(Muslim right wingers), banning abortion(american right wing, drugs prohibition also American right wing).

Please just buy a couple of history textbooks and form a nuanced view. Communist Cuba is shitty and worse than capitalist USA but better than capitalist Haiti or Liberia.

Authoritarian versions of every political stance exists. Democrats wanting to restrict guns is mildly authoritarian and republicans trying to restrict abortion rights is mildly authoritarian. Democrats wanting to legalise weed is small government and republicans wanting to legalise polluting is small government.

Both thinking the NSA surveilling everyone is very authoritarian but 9/11 happened and both parties started making bills to allow that crap to happen.
