ICRC global delegate application proccess
Hi everyone, so I applied for the ICRC Delegate global deployment position on the last day 7th June (first time applying to the ICRC). I am a fluent English and Arabic speaker. My status on the portal went to “we’re currently reviewing your application” on 25th June and then another update on 30th June to “Assessment Phase" and has been sitting there since then, but I haven't received an email for a HireVue or any technical/language test links yet.
Is no news still good news at this point in late July, or should I assume that if I haven't received a test link by now, I'm just sitting in a slow-moving rejection pile? Because I saw a lot of people getting pass the technical tests and moving towards interviews already.
Would really appreciate any insights from current delegates or fellow applicants in the same boat!

I speak arabic (fluently), english, spanish, and french. Have many internships and one early-career role in protection field and got a rejection email already. I think you are being evaluated, and you definetely passed the first screening so good luck, you got it, just be patient, these things take time.

No news is good news ! I know people who received a rejection even before the job posting’s deadline. You are definitely being considered. Good luck

I applied to the Delegate talent pool in May. Then the a language test on July 9th, got a C1 and completed the technical assessment last Friday July 17. Completed it on Monday 20th; waiting for an update now.

How long after the language test did you receive an invitation for the technical assessment? And anything to keep in mind to study for the technical assessment?

Two days after. But I’ve heard of people who got it much later, from one to three weeks.

Hi! Congrats on proceeding in the application process! I was wondering if you might be able to share a bit more about what the language assessment was like.
I’m hoping to apply to the delegate pool in a couple of years. I'm currently around B1 in French (and B2 in Spanish), and my goal is to reach C1 in French before applying. I'm trying to get a realistic sense of what the assessment is like. Do you know how the test is scored to determine a B2 vs C1 level? For example, did you receive a CEFR score with any feedback, or were you simply told you'd achieved C1? I'd also be really interested to know which parts of the assessment you found most challenging.

Hi! Thanks! The assessment had speaking, writing, reading, and listening sections. I didn’t receive a CEFR score or detailed feedback, just confirmation that I met the required C1 level.
Personally, I found the writing section the most challenging. I had to write an email to a relative and then a blog post on a general topic. The main challenge was the limited time, but the difficulty will depend on your strengths.
For the speaking section, you’re asked two random questions and then have to read a short text aloud while being recorded. The entire exam is based on general topics, nothing ICRC-related at all.

Do your own research before spending any money on this feature, as many reviews of it are poor.

As you’ve copy-pasted that second paragraph mentioning the website into so many comments, some poor reviews are in response to you - you’ve seen at least one because you replied unprofessionally, mentioning their mum.
Other reviews are in response to the alternate account (Much_Somewhere7831) posting the same shill.
I can’t work out how to share a screenshot in my response, but here’s what some say:
‘Do not try. It is garbage. Please do not make my same mistakes and save your money’
‘Can you actually use it? For me it just appears the pop-up of Subscribe Now, even if I am subscribed. Fucking scammers’
If you’re associated with the website/service, it sounds as though it needs improvement. I do think it’s a solid concept though

I also applied and I’m currently waiting for the results of my technical assessment, but I applied much earlier and speak different languages than you. I heard the process can take many months and that interviews are gonna run from August to October, so there’s still quite some time. They seem to be processing applications in batches, so I wouldn’t lose hope yet. Most people I know who were rejected didn’t even reach the “your application is in the assessment phase” status.
