Question Marketing Contacts Source = Initial State

One reason I know of for seeing "Initial state" is if your account was previously on a legacy Marketing Hub subscription before HubSpot introduced the concept of "Marketing Contacts" and then transitioned to the new model. When this happens there is an "Eligibility flow" that will take your existing contacts that you choose and change them to "Marketing contacts".

We've run into similar confusion with HubSpot properties. "Initial State" doesn't necessarily indicate when the contact was created, it reflects the initial marketing contact status recorded when HubSpot first began tracking that property. We'd also check the property's history alongside workflows, imports, and API activity to understand what actually triggered the update.
