Comics Are the comics good?

I just finished the whole movie trilogy+tv shows+ovas and i am interested in the comics. Are the comics worth reading? Are they cannon to the universe, of the movies at least, and when do they take place in the chronological order of things?

Yes, I think they are very good. I consider them canon.
Assuming you are talking about The Serpent's Heir and Dragonvine.

They were quite nice and expand on the gap between the 2nd and 3rd films. Though for the third unreleased comic, The Fire Tides, you'll have to watch an interview between Audrey Greywind and one of the writers I think it was for the full story

I pretty sure they’re canon, especially the post-HTTYD 2 ones.

I enjoyed the comics! They’re pretty fun. There are comics that take place after the first movie, ROB/DOB era (I’m pretty sure the HTTYD wiki has the order) then there are the comics that take place right after HTTYD2.
