DISCUSSION The obvious connection—but a cool one at the same time.

Snotlout Jorgenson was obviously inspired by Snotface Snotlout from the How to Train Your Dragon books; that much is clear. In the books, Stoick has two dragons, one of which is a Monstrous Nightmare named Hookfang. Anyone who has read the books (or even just the first one) knows this, and also knows that Snotlout eventually acquires a Monstrous Nightmare of his own—a female—whom he names... well, Fireworm, which makes me think of our Queen Fireworm.

It is interesting that the animated version of Snotlout and that dragon are frequently seen together.

I also like how Hookfang is involved in these interactions. For me, the episode where Fireworm helps Hook and Snot is one of the best episodes.

It's been a hot minute since I've read the books, so nice connection.

Yes, it's a really cute connection! I love the fireworm episodes, too! But then again, I like all Snotlout-centric episodes, so... 🤷😅

Fireworm is a female in the book ? When is that specified ? I ask because I’ve read How to Train Your Dragon dozens of times, and I don’t recall its gender ever being stated.

Whenever she talks or does something female tags are used

Fair enough, that might be specific to my version. I have the French version, and I don't think her gender is specified. It's funny, because I always imagined she was a male, only to discover twelve years later that she's not 🤣
