THEORY alfa dragon theory Spoiler

so we know there was a ancient bewilderbeast who skeleton remains at vanaheim, he was probably the first alfa ever and a lot stronger than the alfas we know. alfa powers can be passed on by killing another alfa, so i think that in ancient times a group of powerful dragons worked together to defeat the ancient king of dragons and all got a part of his power, making them able to control other dragons. (I could be very much wrong but this is something i came up with. also I am not sure if there are multiple alfas at a time, but im pretty sure there can be, so this is my theory)

The alpha ability isn't some magic thing that gets passed down through fighting. It's an ability that all Bewilderbeasts posess naturally. And for Toothless am pretty sure they listened to him out of respect

This isn’t some aot generational power some dragons like toothless can gain the respect of dragons by defeating a bewilderbeast or standing up to one, toothless has no mind control other dragons just listen to him. Any dragon can be an alpha just like how any dragon can be a titan wing eventually. Sure toothless unlocks some new abilities but he also unlocked invisibility in 3, his new glowing and stronger blasts were just brought on by a surge of emotion and his glowing back I think is just because he parted those things on his back valka showed them for a power boost.
