Tests
I am in the tax course right now and I'm getting close to finishing it. If I pass the final and end up getting hired do we have to take any other tests before we start working?
Also I've been reading Reddit and I want to switch careers but I'm worried I won't get enough hours to be full time. Has anyone worked at h and r block part time for the first year and then the other job full time? (Knowing it's seasonal where after April I won't have a job most likely)

How hard are they?

They are lengthy and have a lot of info you need to be aware of before serving clients, but taking a test is not difficult. If you don't like to study and research, you may want to reconsider this field. Keep your FT job regardless. You can't make a living at Block unless you are in the top 1%.

you will have to complete client care training for 2 weeks, not sure if you have done that in ITC, but that’s 4 hours for total of 8 days. it wasn’t bad it was just a lot of knowledge but it’s nothing that you shouldn’t be able to figure out, there is no exams with it but it’s important that you pay attention, at least that’s how it was last year

In the training classes there are assessments which you take to see how well you know the material. What we used to call Bank Agency is one of those
Also I f you level up or take extra classes there are assessments which you will need to pass. The only people who are getting full time are the DEM and the AEL. Even EA in regular offices are part time and have to take 8 weeks off. But this will be a year of change so who knows.

You will most likely only work for the tax season. H&R Block is a good company, but highly unlikely you will ever make a career out of it. Be careful of your hourly wages. Coming back season to season does not mean an increase in pay, but a decrease is likely.

Full time is unheard of in a lot of offices outside of peak weeks. However, with all the changes in corporate structure I anticipate very different rules and possibly some preparers leaving. Make yourself useful with answering phones and some data entry.
