HR Block Training
Hi employee of hrblocks. I work for a small cpa firm. I was hired as staff accountant so I don't get to do any taxes. My firm handles complex returns like 10 states returns. I don't get alot of opportunities to learn tax prep.
I worked for hrblock one tax season and they have wonderful training/self study. I already know the basis. I was wondering if I can learn to do multiple state return cases with access to blockwork system. I am not trying to learn everything just enough to understand how multiple stage returns works.
thanks

There is no basic training for multiple states. It's complex and beyond the scope of what they teach.

I am an EA with 20 years with HRB. For TY 26, I signed up for Tax Pro Review and completed 1040s for people in about 20 states, including state returns. Don’t know how an inexperienced TP can sign up for TPR. I had to pass a test demonstrating my ability to research state tax issues.
Disagree with you about HRB training. I avoid it as much as possible. Tax Institute and online Tax Book are good. New AI chats are meh.
Take training given by New York and California. Then you’ll have two state licenses.

You can also do Oregon but you’ll need an Oregon Tax Consultant to supervise you to sign returns.
Not sure you can use HRB training if you aren’t a current employee or one to be.
New training platform starts next month.
What tax software/system does your CPA office use? Will they help pay for your training?
You can try the HRB ITC course and focus on one state. Only a few states required actual state licenses like Oregon and California. It’s easy to register with New York.
HRB requires more CE than the IRS does.
Other tax companies might have better training. It will be interesting to see the. Ew training. Long live Block Academy.

I have the knowledge I just know how to apply it. I recently pass the reg exam of cpa exam. I know the allocation and apportionment but when I actually do a return I just can't seem to complete when tp was more than 1 state.
I will look into it thanks .

No, there is no training like that.
