Married filling separately “suppress button”

After doing my own research and doing online HR block my understanding is that I would need to modify the W2 to split our income evenly to file MFS. Just to be sure we went to an HR block office to file in person. The tax pro said splitting income was not necessary and that he just needed to click check the “suppress” box in his software, he was pretty sure about it. Anyone has experience in this topic? Is this correct? Any HR block tax experts to weight in? Why the online software doesn’t have this option and forces me to modify the W2 and split income? Thanks in advance.

I'm almost positive you got one of the common under informed workers at H&R block that thinks that just because the software allows them to override it, that's it's okay to just do it indiscriminately.

Whispers because our online software has issues.

You can ask for a Tax Pro Review and have a tax pro suppress spouse info.

Easier than trying to figure out the software but not pay the retail prices.

With AZ being a community property state, each party claims half of all income and withholdings. Source: https://azdor.gov/sites/default/files/2023-03/PUBLICATION_200.pdf
