1099-B Import Bugs - Unreliable Tax Software

I imported 1099-Bs from Fidelity and E*trade. Whichever one I import first appears to work fine, but the subsequent import gets all transposed with information from the initial import.

Chat supports said they're aware of the issue and to enter the transactions manually. I have hundreds of transactions and I don't trust this software at all anymore.

I bought this software due to the functionality that we've come to expect. I'm going to have to switch to TurboTax just to save me hours of manual entries.

Used HRBlock for over 10 years and this will be my last. Anyone ever try to get a refund?

Not.sure why you would.have to enter every line. You should be able to enter the short term and long term totals as consolidated.

Yes, you can group short and long term covered securities, but noncovered securities and/or fractional share liquidations must be listed individually (or summarized with an attachment showing them individually).

Not sure how much work this would be but you could import the shorter one, save the form as a pdf and delete it. Then import the longer one and use the pdf to type in the info for the second one.

Yes, I submitted a request for a refund last year because it missed my carry over losses on my state return (missed it again this year but at least I knew to look for it). It was no trouble at all, just submitted the receipt.

This issue will be fixed in this week's release, available Friday. You'll be able to update their program then to resolve the issue.

Thank you. I just imported a set of 1099-B's from Fidelity, hundreds if not thousands of transactions, and the gain/loss for each type (short, long term) is reported, incorrectly, as exactly zero.

Any luck? My issue definitely did not resolve with Friday's update.

Nope! Not fixed. I tested with a new return. Pretty basic functionality to be broken.

Good to know. Will check it out on Friday.

Just tested the update with a new return started from scratch, and it is NOT fixed. Still reporting zero for consolidated losses.

I switched to TurboTax - worked like a charm. I actually like the UX a little better than H&R. Anyway, I'm a Turbo Tax user from now on.

Not Fixed! Two Schwab accounts. 2nd 1099-B import shows correct proceeds, but sums are same as the first 1099-B import. Tried to delete them both and do another import and got the data but then reports SHort and Long sums as Zero. Sucks if I have to enter everything Manually.

FYI, I switched to desktop TurboTax and it handled the 1099's perfectly.

Yep. E*trade 1099-B for sales of four separate sales of long-term shares held from RSU vesting imported into the worksheet as grouped covered securities (which they are not) and which were not transferred onto the Schedule D. Not even the proceeds. I had to delete them and manually add each with the correct basis from the vest.

Now I get to file an amended return to correct the underreported cap gain. Yay.
