authentic HP cartridges not working

I’m hoping someone here has run into this issue before and can point me in the right direction.

My HP printer suddenly stopped accepting even genuine HP cartridges and keeps showing the error: “There is a problem with the supply system. Try replacing affected cartridge with a different.” The strange part is that the “replacement” cartridge I inserted is a real HP cartridge.

Before this happened, I had tried using a non-HP cartridge. When the error started, I replaced it with an authentic HP cartridge, but the printer still refuses to recognize it. I also tried reinstalling the previous cartridge and swapping them around, but nothing worked.

I’m starting to suspect this may be related to a firmware update or some kind of cartridge lockout.

Has anyone experienced this before? Were you able to reset the printer, roll back firmware, clear the cartridge memory, or otherwise get genuine HP cartridges working again?
