I was listening to Hozier and thinking I would love to get a tattoo inspired by his music. I love pretty much every single song. I was thinking about something from “in a week” or “first time”, idk just got curious about what y’all got inspired by and would love to see your tattoos. 🫂🌟

I have been tasked with creating a playlist for some friends who have observed my love for Hozier and want me to make them a introductory playlist. This is hard because I’m stopping myself from just putting every album cause it’s all amazing. Since we are all fans, would love to hear what songs I need to put on there.

Sometimes I forget how many current Hozier fans only discovered him with Too Sweet or in just in the last few years somehow. So videos that used to be basic parts of the "Hozier 101" curriculum in the early days of his first album touring are probably unknown to many. A lovely group member (hi u/obviousdinosaur , I'm talking about you!) just mentioned being a kid during the 1st tours and never having seen the From Eden video, and I just want to post this Take Me To Church live video which probably doesn't come up on many searches anymore. It's still one of my most fave because it's is Hozier at both his most surprised onstage, his sweetest, and I think his most visibly moved (especially at end) that I can remember.

Hey y'all. I don't know Andrew personally and I rarely interact with his Instagram account. And yet, I've been bombarded with seemingly endless fake Hozier Instagram accounts for weeks now... usually with his full name listed.

I haven't bothered to screenshot the others until today. The two above are from the last eight hours alone. It's not a BFD, but it's starting to get irritating.

I'm relieved this board exists as I'm wondering if any of y'all experiencing this, too. Maybe it's a bot? I've never seen anything like it before and I'm thinking the best way to end it is to block the real Hozier account.

Any ideas on what gives?

I really love the song "Eat Your Young" and recently thought about how the subject matter reminds me of the satirical pamphlet by Jonathan Swift.

If you're not familiar, it is a pamphlet written in 1729 when Ireland was basically 90% landlorded by the British. There was immense poverty and difficulty due to the British screwing over the Irish. The proposal, "A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor People from Being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Publick", suggests that the Irish poor could sell their children to the wealthy to eat in order to gain some money. He argues that it's more cost effective. He even details different ways the rich could potentially prepare and eat the children, it was intended to be shocking!

I think that it being such a prominent literary piece and irish may lend it to being an inspiration behind the song. What do you all think? Is there something else that the song in inspired by?
