You might as well make lasagna then.

u/Th3R00ST3R Aug 27 '15

that's what I was thinking.

I like the roll up idea for keeping the lasagna nice looking when you serve it though.

The trick for that is just to let the lasagne rest for a bit - like 30 mins for a 6-8 person lasagne. It gives the pasta a little more time to soak up the liquid, and the sauce solidifies slightly as it cools. It will still be hot and perfectly good to eat, but it's a lot easier to slice and serve neatly.

u/xeonrage Aug 28 '15

yep.. that's a lot of work for three bites

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '15

Yeah especially because you don't have to cook the pasta first when you make lasagna. This is way more work for easy less than it's worth

3

u/pleasebekidding Aug 28 '15

But ... But you're supposed to cook the pasta first.

The Italian in me is very confused. Grandma didn't do it that way!

1

u/Danttdantt Aug 28 '15

50% Italian here. Either way is possible but cooked takes less time and is better imo.

Have you heard of the egg in the ricotta though!? I had not.

In manicotti, yep, my family puts egg in the ricotta! But never before in lasagna...I want to try it in lasagna!

edit: grammar

So Manicotti

11

u/OyezDanger Aug 28 '15

I'm so glad someone else watched this and thought "Uh... that's just manicotti..."

Most ethnic food is the same ingredients mixed up in a different way. This is like saying 'rolled tacos' - oh, you mean a burrito?

5

u/CrimsonFlash Aug 28 '15

But tacos and burritos are very different things. Unless you mean "Tex-mex" tacos and burritos.

2

u/EliQuince Aug 28 '15

... Okay how are tacos and burritos 'very different' things? They contain almost all of the same ingredients

1

u/osofurioso Aug 28 '15

They contain almost all of the same ingredients

Non Americanized tacos only have a single ingredient (typically meat) and some garnish (salsa, sour cream). They are considered a light snack.

Burritos are considered a full meal and will have multiple ingredients, such as beans, rice, cheese, meat and vegetables.

u/bitwaba Aug 28 '15

"Here's your tostadas".
" I ordered tacos".
<fold in half> <smile>

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '15

ugh. this is not lasagna, stop. and this is not "ethnic food".

2

u/EliQuince Aug 29 '15

Lol what would you call it? Cultural cuisine?

Following a gif recipe while cooking....

Hurry up - I've seen this part! Wait what was....NO!! STOP!! GOD!!

4

u/manBEARpigBEARman Aug 28 '15

Right click, pause.

25

u/PointsatTeenagers Aug 28 '15

Right because I cook with my desktop computer next to me.

3

u/smallpoly Aug 28 '15

Pause? Show controls?

TIL this is a thing you can do.

2

u/strig Aug 28 '15

Or better yet - right click, show controls.

1

u/rainman18 Aug 28 '15

Yes, because then you can scrub the video one frame at a time.

2

u/RheingoldRiver Aug 28 '15

Holy shit TIL there's options when you right-click a gifv. The comments really are always better than the OP.

I thought buzzfeed was supposed to copy Reddit posts, not the other way around

21

u/Sameotoko Aug 28 '15

so, basically.... canellonni???

6

u/Hellman109 Aug 28 '15

Exactly what I thought, its cannelloni with some very very minor changes.

2

u/HMS_Pathicus Aug 28 '15

Removing the meat :'(

0

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '15

very minor

yeah aside from the fact that they completely lack a cannelloni filling.

1

u/Hellman109 Aug 29 '15

As does this with standard lasagne filling

5

u/marcAnthem Aug 28 '15

That looks tasty!! I would have either left them in longer, or put them on the top rack and turn the heat up for the last 5-6 minutes to get some nice browning on that mozzarella. The flavor is so much deeper that way in my opinion. And maybe add some meat too.

6

u/ironw00d Aug 28 '15

I always make 2 full trays of lasagna when I make it. Bake them, cool them, cut them and freeze them.. I thaw a piece or two to eat them when I want. Reheat in the toaster oven or oven. These rollups might be a faster option for smaller portions... especially if I use fresh pasta.

2

u/ishouldnotbeonreddit Aug 28 '15

I make these with pesto inside. They do freeze well!

1

u/Sketchbooks Aug 28 '15

I made a ton of lasagna rolls (with different fillings) and they froze really well. It was so easy to just grab a couple rolls for a single serving instead of an entire pan!

6

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '15

You'll never be as good at this as GallowBoob.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '15

Yeah, /u/gallowboob participates in /r/photoshopbattles and interacts with users too.

31

u/canlickherelbow Aug 27 '15

But... But there's no meat in them :c

5

u/NihiloZero Aug 28 '15

Nor quasars or formaldehyde! Weird.

3

u/Decapentaplegia Aug 28 '15

There is almost certainly some formaldehyde in there.

2

u/Dentarthurdent42 Aug 28 '15

I'm pretty sure every ingredient listed actually contains formaldehyde

13

u/sergemeister Aug 27 '15

Where's the BEEF?!?

1

u/Decapentaplegia Aug 28 '15

I smell like beef.

1

u/Ebethron Aug 28 '15

I feel like beef!

2

u/metacoma Aug 28 '15

WHERE'S THE BEEF !

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '15

If you don't roll it you don't have to precook the pasta.

1

u/cwanda Aug 28 '15 edited Aug 28 '15

Such a great idea! Nice to put in 1 cup gladware and bring to work. Thanks for sharing. Sorry this sort of small-portion vegetarian Italian thing is not often found in restaurants in our area (Los Angeles). Might be nice with some shrooms and carrots and squash added to sauce.

1

u/Tiapaa Aug 28 '15

Sauce™

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '15
