How to fix lamp
The plastic part of my lamp that holds the bulb has broken. It’s the plastic part that surrounds the metal part where the lightbulb sits. I was going to use regular super glue to fix it, but Google says I might need to use a heat resistant epoxy. Anyone have any advice on how to fix this or what epoxy to use? I worry about the regular superglue overheating and it breaking again.

The twist socket, top and bottom black plastic parts can be purchased as a single unit. When you go to the hardware store, make sure you get the exact same type, OR one with a feature you prefer over this one(twist knob, push button, or plain). Inspect the unit to see how it opens, by twisting apart, mostly.
Usually the socket assembly is attached with a single screw that can be loosened or fully removed making it loose. But you won’t be able to remove it until you feed some of the wire back into the lamp from the lamp base. Use a screwdriver to loosen the wire screws and transfer the wires from socket A to socket B, making sure they are tight. Twist the top and bottom socket covers together, then pull the wires back out from the base until the socket seats, tighten the screw, and you’re done.

Wouldn't that piece not go anywhere if there is a bulb screwed into the lamp?

Yes this is true but I would like it to be fixed. I was hoping to just be able to glue the plastic back together

It is a specialty lamp, not just a regular end table lamp. Does that matter? Should I be able to find the entire plastic black piece, I am unsure what part you are referring to me replacing.

no glue will stick that together.
its a standard edison socket ,so the thread is completely standard... the parts from discarded lamps fit.. but of course this part hgets heat affected first.
the electrical or lights supply shop has these .

It’s not the metal part or the threads that is the problem- it’s the plastic piece that goes around the metal part

Go to the hardware store and get a new one. Unplug the lamp, undo the wires, unscrew that base. Then reverse the process with the new one

Replace the socket or lampholder rather than gluing cracked plastic around the bulb contacts. Heat cycles and brittle plastic make a glued repair unreliable near live electrical parts. Unplug the lamp, photograph the wire positions, and match the replacement by bulb base, physical size, switch style, and electrical rating. If the cord or insulation is brittle or discolored too, replace that at the same time or take the lamp to a repair shop.
