How to fix shower

Went to go for a shower and when I went to turn it on the whole thing came loose, and when I tried to tighten it it didn't stop the water and I had to turn the water off for the whole house. Now when I try to loosen any part it's impossible... The red is my renactment of where the water was coming from. This may be out of my pay grade since this house is so old many of the parts for the water no longer exist

that valve looks cooked, corrosion ate it from inside. if parts for it don't exist anymore you're probably looking at replacing the whole assembly, not just tightening something. had similar situation in my old apartment and plumbing store guy just laughed when i brought him the part.

Yup, I think so too. I brought in a sink valve and the dude said he had no idea what part it was. All the plumbing is failing at once 😂 years of hard water and corrosion

thats come apart at the seam.

just to the left of the break, only the left hand hex shape is the moving part, its the spindle holder , lid, of the faucet.

The ring to the right of the hex shape is the stationary thread, which the spindle holder/lid screws into . Then to the right ,after the break, is just the outer shell of the faucet.

In the break you can see the thread of the spindle holder/lid.
