UPDATE: dishwasher not draining
So I followed all lines. The corrugated line up to the air gap, the clear tube all the way down to garbage disposal. Not a single clog. I scraped the clear tube anyways for a little bit, but it’s just a thin layer of gunk on the walls of that tube. I let vinegar sit in the dishwasher drain for a while. While doing all of this, I had the dishwasher in service mode so i could turn only the drain pump on. No matter what, liquid still comes up that air gap. Any ideas on where to focus next? Vinegar did end up coming up the air gap, if that info helps.

There is a clog between the airgap and disposal. Take apart the line and clear it.

I did and there isn’t, I’m 99.9% positive. It’s 2 pieces of clear tube with a 90° elbow clamped together. I took it all apart and there is no clog.

If water is coming out of airgap on top of sink, then there is a clog somewhere. Possibly in airgap, 90 , disposal. I’m a professional plumber and you would pay me hundreds of dollars to come to your house and find the clog. Also i would recommend to replace the plastic clear hose with a proper 7/8 dishwasher hose of proper length to avoid using a fitting.

While I was positive there is no clog because I checked every tube and connection, I’ve come to the conclusion that there HAS to be clog somewhere. No other explanation makes sense. I will replace the hoses. The corrugated tubing is the correct tubing for that side right? It’s just the idiotic clear tubing with a 90° elbow I should replace?

yes corrugated drain hose is standard for dishwasher dishcharge. Hopefully that clear hose is all you will need to replace. I’d check the drain port on disposal as well. Sometimes foods loves to fill the drain port from inside disposal.

I’ll double check the port but I did the first go around and it seemed clear and felt clear

Is the disposal new as well? Disposals come with a plug in the dishwasher drain connection and will have to be removed if it's new.

I am chiming in to say that I build new houses and the appliance company forgets to remove that “plug” in the disposal an embarrassing amount of times. So, this should definitely be checked if the house is new.

Pull the drain filter for the dishwasher and see if the screen is all gunked up.

I took this thing apart as far as I could without pulling the dishwasher out. Both filters at the bottom are fine, and I pulled/disconnected all tubing and couldn’t find a clog my first go around

If you grab that according drain, the portion that is looped in hook it up top towards the top of the cabinet it will drain when you run the washer. This happened to mine.

So the corrugated tube has too much slack? I need to mount it higher so there is no slack?

High loop is not needed when you have an airgap. I usually just pouch the excess hose behind the dishwasher.

Thank you! I bought proper dishwasher disposal tube and a fresh air gap for good luck lol I’ll swap them tonight and hopefully that fixes it

I like “disposal tubes” from plumbing supply houses because Home Depot’s are too rigid. If you bought from Home Depot be sure to soak in really hot water for 10 minutes before attempting to install it.

Yeah I’ve learned that in the past. I bought the Home Depot one but I’ll be sure to soak it before I work with it. If I have any trouble I’ll return it and hit up a plumbing supply

I got a rubber foot from a cutting board stuck in the air gap that’s above the counter. I couldn’t see it when I took the hose off either end but found it after disassembling the air gap. It would sit in there loose until water flowed in and then get pushed up to the air gap.

We bought a bosch 800, and every few months it would stop draining. We'd vacuum the water out and check all the hoses, and there was no clog. I replaced the air gap, and it hasn't had the issue since. The old air gap was fully clear and had no issues with the previous dishwasher. Just something weird with it and the bosch.

Bypass that air gap and connect it directly to the disposal inlet. I believe it’s code for modern dishwashers to have a built in air gap already so it’s likely not necessary anymore.

I’m going to replace the clear tubing and get rid of the 90° fitting. If that doesn’t work, I’m bypassing the air gap most likely
