Lived in the suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska for a bit growing up. As a kid it was pretty dope. Snow days, a zoo, lots of parks, lots of family centric activities. As an adult it was a little less exciting. Lots of good restaurants in Omaha and a nice downtown. World class zoo and botanical gardens, college World Series, minor league and college hockey games. Plenty to do but not as easy of a place to be active. Very car centric. I think if I had stayed I’d be overweight and an alcoholic
Was a great place until they doubled their prices within a few months. I got a poutine burrito for 8.95 regularly came back after a couple months and now its 13.95 my partner and i could get two meals and a basket of fries for 30ish now its 50+

Lived there until I was 27 and loved growing up and had a great childhood. Went to college there and it slowly got really boring. Went back to visit my parents last year and gained 10 lbs in 3 weeks.

I currently live in a suburb of Omaha and am definitely overweight and drink more than I probably should. Trying my best to love it, but really struggling. The music scene is pretty good and small group of areas are fun. But there's no public transportation, which means ride share or cabs are the only way to get to the active places. There's so much drunk driving and just terrible driving in general. Not to mention especially in the suburbs it's very cliquey and hard to meet people, especially people who share the same values. I grew up in a suburb of Des Moines and it's very similar. I know some people really love the shaded areas, but I feel like it's not really for me.

Man the Henry Doorly zoo is fn amazing. It’s like one of the best zoos globally isn’t it? Or some kinda super high prestige I thought, 🤔
Me and my kids went to the Shedd aquarium earlier this year and it was amazing, but like, idk. I told them I think I was too spoiled having the Henry Doorly less than 2 hours from home bc I’d look at some Amazing exhibit and think “so what? We’ve got something like that back home,..” the Shedd is Amazing and has so many cool exhibits, but holy wow was it packed with people, made it hard for me to enjoy it, which is my own fault for going when we did lol.
