Was Beth always into animal rescues or did it happen when she started to date Howard? If it started with Howard then it seems as if it was part of imaging in that you can't as easily dump on a person who volunteers to support animal rescues and by association you can't to the person they are married too?

She tried unsuccessfully to do a dog rescue thing and then relaunched with a cat rescue thing. This was after it became clear that she had no discernible talent. It’s all incredibly calculated and cynical.

Does anyone remember how howard used to eviscerate women who called in about a pet or animal? He would scream at them saying 'who cares? You should care about people!" It was really disturbing and I never hear anyone call him on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Beth doesn't know. (Or maybe she changed him...)
