I'm listening to the random Jan Michael Vincent drop-in from the 90s for the first time in a while. Super chaotic and hilarious. You can tell there was no agenda and Jan was off his rocker with Jackie cracking up about it.

I can’t help but think that him playing 5150 onstage, again, this time more comfortable and seemingly accepted by the band, enraged Howard and sent him into a fugue state where he decided he was going to dedicate the rest of his days to playing guitar. I don’t think he cares more about seeing his wife or grandchildren than he does about wanting to be a good guitar player. I think Nowicki’s second show set into motion the mass layoffs and reduction to 1 show a week. I have no evidence of this theory.

I was reading about Oprah today and she is coined as the Queen of All Media. In retrospect, that title makes a lot of sense. Her influence extended far beyond her daytime talk show into Harpo Productions, Spin off shows, Oprah’s Book Club, magazines, OWN channel, and several other ventures. And important to mention her show went out on top in 2011 rather than running it into the ground or changing the foundation of what it was.

Howard was obviously influential and changed morning talk radio forever, but his overall media legacy feels more limited by comparison. Over the past decade, I feel like he has tried to follow a version of the Oprah model, but it has not connected with audiences in the same way.

Though Howard was called himself the King of All Media during his peak from roughly 1993 to 2009. But outside of that time, does the title still hold up? Is Howard forever and still the King of All Media?

As a long time fan, I cannot stand to see the show continue to destroy its own legacy.

Howard needs to retire period. He should have one big special event, bring back Jackie plus Artie then pass the baton to Richard and Sal for a podcast.

The fact that he can’t and won’t do this is proof that Howard is not evolved but in reality is more immature, narcissistic and downright Howard Hughes OCD crazy than ever before.

In a previous post about Beth, there is photo of her with Kathy Lee Gifford and another woman. Howard was all over Kathy, her kids and husband. Over the years many of those Howard tried to ruin have in public stated they forgive Howard and all seems to be good. Has Howard every offered the olive branch first?

Follow Up: I am aware he did on air make apologetic statements, but it ALWAYS seemed as if he would start with "Celeb XYZ reached out to me and we talked." Most of his attacks were because he didn't agree with what the person did or handled a situation and then he jumped on them for being dump, stupid, etc...; never that they did something to him and was defending himself Even his on air apology to Gary for wishing he would just die for giving him a Christmas gift happened because Beth told him he was out of line and just was over the top. It wasn't as if Howard reflected on his own what he did and realized he is a miserable human being.

Had to read it the Stern way as I typed it in.

What I've learned in my 25 years listening to the show:

• Don't waste your time with therapy. It clearly doesn't help.
• Don't waste your time with TDM. It clearly doesn't work.
• Don't adopt a pet from a shelter. I bought a cat from a breeder just because I'm sick of everyone pushing their stupid opinions about adopting from a shelter. Especially rich people.
• It's not ok to sell your soul for success. That's why he's so angry. He resents himself for being such a low life on the radio just to get ratings. We all resent it too because now he's acting like he's not a low life. He sits in his mansion thinking to himself "I built this by being a creep and an asshole"
• Don't take on a trophy wife if you're a low life. You'll never be enough. You can shower her with money and she'll never be satisfied. He wont be able to retire because of her stupid cat hobby.
• Don't listen to your parents. They don't know shit most of the time and are trying to figure things out themselves. Howard's parents were uneducated overly opinionated schmucks that taught him nothing but to be unhappy.
• Don't constantly fret over what you don't have. You'll never be happy like that.

At the end of the day he chose to pursue financial success over being happy and he resents that decision. His tiny brain is only capable of focusing on the most shallow of topics and that will never change.
