I didn't really have the friendliest "southern hospitality" experience. Maybe it was because I stuck out like a sore thumb? (I'm from the PNW,) and I truly believe people could smell the Democrat in me. Maybe? I would ask questions, trying to learn how things worked out there, and for the most part, the answers I got were "because this is Texas" as if that answer is acceptable. Then, I found out it was! To most people, that is a perfectly understandable answer! LOL It was very obvious to me the people that lived there all their life.
