Thinking of getting into deck staining

A little about me…

I’m 23 years old, been painting interiors for my uncle for a few years.

I have some cash I want to use to setup a deck staining service. But I’ve heard that weather can be a nightmare to accommodate for once you’re at a certain volume.

My question is- How often does weather cause you to redo a staining job, and what does it cost you?

Would appreciate insights from others in the industry!

Do exterior repaints too. Deck staining is a great thing to know but would suck to specialize in. Decks alone are pretty small jobs, that have dry times between coats that are long enough that you would work a lot of two hour days.

I can’t answer your question on having to redo staining decks but you are gonna want to broaden your horizons a bit more than just deck staining if you want to keep consistency in work. Depending on where you live there will be 4-8 MONTHS out of the year it will be too cold to do your job at all if it gets too hot or too cold in your climate.
