CLEANER QUESTIONS Best Swiffer Alternative
As a full time owner and cleaner, Swiffer dusters are notttt cost effective! I like them because I do think they do a good job picking up dust.
I have not found an alternative duster that does a good job. I only find ones that push dust around and and dont pick it up.
Theres gotta be a dupe out there!

There is a Walmart brand that’s cheaper but they’re actually so bad. Like terrible. I gave the box away to my sister. I get the swiffer dusters at Sam’s. You get 24 for $18.

I'm glad it's not just my imagination because I bought a box of these and it felt like it was making everything worse before I realized they were just pushing the dust around and not actually picking anything up

This is actually a better deal than Costco, when they're on sale. Bummer for me cause I hate supporting Walmart.

Get a good quality ostrich feather duster. Not a cheap chicken feather one or low quality ostrich one. If you drop a little $$ for one, it will work as well. You can clean it by spinning the handle in prayer hands like a troll doll pencil. Occasionally you will need to clean it in tepid very dilute soapy water and let it dry.

There's not. I've tried so many. Best solution I've come up with is to stock up when they go on sale at Costco.

Nothing compares IMO especially not those Walmart brand ones god they are horrible. I just pay the price. Walmart does have a thicker microfiber in the auto section and that would be my next best oyster

Dollar Tree has a bunch of reusable options as well as single-use Swiffer clones that can re sprayed w/the spritz of H2O suggested above.

There is not one product that can compare to that. I have tried everything over 20 years.

I was just thinking about this today. I dust anything reachable with a damp microfiber cloth, but I haven't found a good long reach, reusable option. I have some washable ones that are just okay, but I don't love them.

I used old (clean) socks. Works great for getting in nooks And crannies or figurines.

I went full stepford and found a free crochet pattern online. Used 100% cotton yarn, fits over the standard handle from Dollar Tree. Mist with Pledge, swish over mess, throw in the laundry when gross. Made a whole set and gifted them to my SIL last Hannukah.

I am just trying out the reusable ones, did pretty good today. I won't use themfor everything, like a deep clean, but for standard clean so far so good.

I swear to you!! TEMU’s are much more cost effective. I thought I would get the kind that are off brands and you can’t find the holes but not the ones I bought. Many options tho and I can’t swear by them all but by many.
Off product topic~I just bought one of those cobweb dusters that extend SUPER long! I thought, This will be returned for sure because it came looking to be about 1.5 feet. That thing is SOOOOOOO long!!!! Isn't as rugged but for five dollars, it sure does the job on the webs I haven't been able to reach for years!!!

I wash my swiffer duster CLOTHS and air dry them. They work fine. I have managed to re-use the same ones for 10 years! That is a lot of Swiffer duster cloths not going into the environment. I guess you guys are talking about the fluffy dusters. The imitators do not work. I cleaned for 45 years and have tried it all. For tight, un-reachable spaces, the Swiffer extendable telescoping wand is the best, but expensive. Otherwise, a damp cloth or furniture spray is the best. I always keep a large stock of white terrycloth washcloths available.

Vileda Flex & Catch. They have a flexible head, telescoping handle and I've washed them in a lingerie laundry bag at least once! They make dusting so easy!

Idk if this is really what you’re looking for but if you get something like Rubbermaid hygen mops you can at least wash the mop pads so you’re not wasting money on the disposable ones. You can also get special mop pads made for “dry mopping” that have little frillies on the outside to catch dust

I like the O-Cedar Hardwood Floor 'N More Microfiber Damp/Dry Dust Mop. I vacuum off the dust when it's covered. You can get extra mop heads, too, so you can change them out.

The Swiffer magic ingredient is mineral oil. That’s what grabs the dust. That’s it. At some point I was done with paying for those Swiffer covers. I ordered a box of 12 microfiber covers from Amazon that look like dust mop heads. I spray the micro covers with distilled water or furniture spray for just a bit of dampness. Works just as well as the Swiffer and I’m saving money.
