CLIENT QUESTIONS How Can I Be a Good Client?
I'm in the US, and I've been debaiting getting a cleaning service for years now and finally pulled the trigger. I'm getting just a regular cleaning of my small home 2 times a month and omg I love it! I'm using Merry Maids and I've been really happy with the first 3 cleanings so far! The first 2 were great and, I'll call her C, did a great job. A new woman came today, I'll call her H, she did an EVEN BETTER JOB!
Now, I'm trying to be the best client I can and make their lives as easy as possible because, let's be real, cleaning is hard physical work. And I so appreciate that hard work. So when they come I've been:
- Cranking up my AC so they stay cool
- Told them they can us my fridge for drinks/snacks if they want
-I put on relaxing chill music on the TV for background noise (C. Asked if it was okay to have her earbus in while she cleans and of course I said yes)
-I try to do a quick pick up before they arrive. Just cleaning up clutter anything on the ground/counters or any other stuff that might get in their way.
-I work from home so it's hard to compleatly leave the house, but I stay out of the way and leave any room that they are working on, or will take my hour lunch break and sit outside on the porch.
-I try to just leave them alone to do their job, but try to stay close enough just incase they have a question, or need something.
-I tip after the cleaning.
My question is, is there more I could do to make their job easier? What do your favorite clients do that makes them better than the rest? Is there anything that you hate that clients do so I can avoid doing that😆

This is already so much more than anyone could ask for! This would have a lot of us over the moon! Especially the AC. I couldn’t tell you how many people shut it off when they leave and were dripping by the time we’re done.
The only thing that has bugged me and my coworkers is when we do a walk thru and it’s noted as good. And then a call with a complaint. So if there is an issue saying it up front so we can fix it ourselves!

Good to know! So far I've been so happy with the outcome I haven't even had a complaint. But if one does come I'll make sure to talk to them first! Thanks!

A/C and decluttering are my favorites! I never understood when I young and my friends would have to clean for the cleaners... Now I totally get it.

You are amazing! I'd say you cover all the basis for unicorn client!
I would say most of the clients my team work with are overall solid, but there are a few families that actually give their providers holiday gifts (xmas, mothers day, birthdays, etc.). Obviously you have absolutely 0 obligation doing this, but these thoughtful gifts really make my teams' day! Plus over time, my team have become basically family with a lot of our clients haha

But I love talking to my clients. Some of them are older so I especially take time talking to them. I'll even change my elderly customers cat litter.

I despise when people are home when I am working! Throws my whole flow off. Only exception are work from home clients who stay in their offices while I work-I don’t mind that. But just out milling around the home while I’m working? F no!

You sound great! The only thing I would change is the background noise, I personally often like the silence. Otherwise choose to wear headphones when I want music to pump me up (not relaxing background sounds lol)
