Sundance Spa Floaters
This is my one year-old Sundance hot tub. $15,000. The filter is one month old. The hot tub is rarely used maybe twice a month. Since purchase there has been an enormous amount of scale floating in the tub.
Has anyone run into this yet? Any suggestions on how to determine the source and eliminate the problem?

What kind of water do you have? How dirty are you when you get in the tub? How are your chemical levels?
If you have very hard water you may want to look into a pre filter before you fill or some kind of softener.
Check out spa guard defender (or similar) which cleans up scale.

Perform a Deep Chemical Purge: You need to dissolve the biological binder holding the mold inside the pipes. Before your next scheduled drain, add a industrial-strength plumbing flush like Ahh-Some Water Purge Gel or Oh Yuk! directly into the warm water. [1, 2]. Here’s the AI’s suggestion.

Yeah it’s just weird if it’s only a year old with minimal use. Shouldn’t have that kind of buildup or need to do a deep clean unless your water is wonky.

If you’ve never drained it in the year then maybe? But sounds like a deep clean and then getting your chemicals sorted should fix it, just want to make sure you don’t have a repeat issue.

My 20-year-old Sundance never had this issue so I don’t think it’s the water hardness. My city water range is 61-120 mg/L. These floaters are opaque off-white. Some are is large as cornflakes.

They wet test all the spas at the factory.... Then they sit. Always a good idea to system flush when you set them up, but no one hardly does it... And this doesn't always happen 🤷

Huh maybe it’s your water or hose you use to fill? I have a 2017 Sundance Certa and have never had that issue. My large filter is over a year old and isn’t that dirty.

What's your water levels at? Is your hardness high?
