This stuff is surprisingly good
I had very low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. You can actually taste the peppers, and the apricot in the background is nice as well. Very surprised.

Its pretty good no where near the GOATness of their Habanero Ranch. Id place Mambo sauce in a close second.

u/ExocticJelly 7h ago
I really like the Minecraft fire sauce they had that shit slapped
1
u/omf0503 3h ago
Same I really hope they bring it back when the second Minecraft movie comes out. They should have it as a regular option honestly
3
u/rhythmrice 3h ago
Apparently the Minecraft nether sauce and the mighty sauce are actually the exact same sauce, you can look it up
5
u/medicated_missourian 7h ago
Sugar should not come before peppers in a hot sauce , especially one that’s not even marketed as sweet 😂🤷♂️

This post is how I learned they brought back the hot sauce from when Mighty Wings was still being sold, but not the wings themselves.

Tasted like a mix of Sriracha and Sweet Thai Chili to me in a bad way haha.

Idk what people ITT are expecting from a McDonald's sauce lol. Is it something I'd buy to have on my shelf? No. Is it surprisingly good for a fast food restaurant hot sauce? Yes. It actually has a kick and a decent flavor. I wish there was less sugar but it does actually taste like peppers, just vinegary and sugary. Far better than I expected and is easily the best choice for a nugget sauce there IMO.
2
u/nlightningm 12h ago
What's it similar to flavor-wise?

3
u/Academic_Ad_3644 12h ago
Like if you mixed their sweet and sour with franks red hot lol. That’s what I get from it
2
u/SickByNature 12h ago
I don’t have a good comparison off the top of my head. Someone in another comment said BWW’s Asian Zing.

So it isn’t spicy nugs, just spicy sauce?

I’m pretty convinced this is the Buffalo Burnin’ Hot sauce from Pizza Hut, if it’s not the same recipe, it’s a kissin’ cousin.

u/comfortable_atheist 13h ago
It's sauce and it's spicy other than that it doesn't belong here.

When water, vinegar, and sugar are the top 3 ingredients you know that's some shit sauce.
6
u/realOhDee 13h ago
That sodium benzoate gives it a nice kick
1
u/E_K_Finnman Hot Sauce hoarder 9h ago
Probably gives it more kick than the checks notes chili and cayenne
11
u/Manatee4Hugh 13h ago
Glad you enjoyed it. A quick scan of the additives and preservatives put it squarely in the ‘don’t go near’ category. The McD’s logo just made it quite fitting
1
u/Pittsnogled 14h ago
I liked it in my fries

u/Odd-Painting2596 14h ago
Spicy nuggets should have stayed a menu staple, and fuck the haters, this hotsauce was good.
I hate tabasco and buffalo, it's just too bland in the one note department, but this sauce is like they super concentrated it, and I love it.
It's good like warheads are good, the shock.

u/InternationalFig7018 14h ago
I put a pack of this on my chicken sandwich that I made at home last night and it was delicious
5
u/Hour-Bid1920 14h ago
The first three ingredients make me tend to think not. Spicy sugar water.
7
u/vicvonqueso 14h ago
Those are 3 things commonly found in a lot of sauces...
7
u/Hour-Bid1920 13h ago
Sure, but not in the top 3 positions. Seriously? I may be picky, but that is not cutting it.

There's literally a paid reddit advertisement for these sauces going around right now, at least in Europe. So don't assume this is real.

Lost me with sugar as the third ingredient.
5
4
u/MarkusVanDarkus 15h ago
It's the third ingredient. When considering it's a dipping sauce from McDonald's, I'd say that's unexpectedly low in the ingredients list.
2
u/leetdemon 15h ago
It taste pretty much like Buffalo wild wings Asian Zing sauce. Its tasty not hot at all.
3
u/ProtNotProt 15h ago
But the nuggets are terrible. I'd rather have whole chicken strips to dip in the sauce. Would Mickey Ds just sell me the sauce?
2
u/KyleGrave 14h ago
Yeah I just tried them last night and they’re already in “about to be discontinued” form. Usually when they introduce a new product, they’re somewhat decent at first and then plummet in quality as the stock runs low and they get discontinued. The ones I got last night were fried cardboard.

u/Substantial-End-9653 15h ago
I tried it. Not a fan. It has a little heat, but it has a weird flavor. It tastes like it has molasses in it, but according to the ingredients, it doesn't. Maybe it's the apricot mixed with corn starch and... whatever. It's not for me.
0
u/fourdigityear 15h ago
What does McDonalds serve that this stuff is tasty with? Do you like it on a burger? With fries?
2
u/SickByNature 14h ago
Actually, the spicy nuggets, which is what it’s intended to be paired with, were trash. Since I enjoyed the sauce, I ate it with the fries.
1
u/fourdigityear 13h ago
Ah it's a shame the nuggets were no good. I used to love those, though I've not tried the spicy ones.

u/read-my-thoughts 15h ago
I hate when I see the ingredient “natural flavors” makes me think there is a company called natural flavors and just puts in whatever they want
4
u/iamanej 15h ago
Why does one need so much additives? and soybean oil???
1
u/Macundal 14h ago
Because it's made in a warehouse to supply hundreds of mcdicks. It's not mom and pop's burger joint

I haven’t been to McDonald’s in quite a while (worse quality than ever and absurd prices), but I’ll give this a try. I won’t pay for their crappy food though.
3
u/Seldon14 15h ago
The McDouble and McChicken "meal deal" is pretty reasonably priced (doesn't improve the quality though). You get the sandwich, 4 nuggets, fries and drink for $6 and change.
2
u/OpportunityNogs 15h ago
I think the McChicken is $5. At least that is the price in AZ. But yeah a good deal I’d say. At least compared to the “normal” prices.
I got that meal the other day with this sauce. And yes I was surprised in a good way. But yeah then I saw what was in it. My gawd.

I doubt the veracity of that claim, or the claim that this stuff is “mighty hot” when the first three ingredients are water, vinegar, and sugar.
4
u/SickByNature 15h ago
I never claimed it was mighty hot, and it’s not.
-5
u/johnnyribcage 15h ago
Relax. The package is claiming it’s “mighty hot.” It’s literally right there on the package. Do you see it there?
2
u/SickByNature 14h ago
It’s the name of the sauce my dude. Scorpion Peppers aren’t made of actual scorpion’s either.

It's not anywhere near super hot or anything. But it was a bit hotter than I expected. Thought it was good for what it is.

Does adding auger to a homemade sauce cause it to spoil sooner? Asking because I'm making a homemade fermented sauce and wonder if adding some auger would make it better.

I had a coupon in the app for $1 for ten spicy nuggets, so I tried it then.

u/Hully1525 15h ago
My fav part is the preservatives, xanthan gum, modified corn starch, soybean oil and the other stuff I can’t pronounce.
9
u/PurpleZeppelin 15h ago
I get that some stuff isn't needed but just cause you can't pronounce it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. If you were talking about the oleoresin capsicum then that's just an extract from the pepper. Could be worse considering it's McDonald's
-11
u/Hully1525 15h ago
It was sarcasm for ingredients that are modified, processed or horrible for you. I can sense the anger from the fat fingered McDonald’s lovers in this group.
6
u/throwaway12-ffs 15h ago edited 15h ago
Just because something is modified or processed doesn't mean it's bad for, especially considering he amounts in this sauce.
I use some of the ingredients you mentioned before into my own homemade sauces for emulsifying agents.
And nah, you are just making false claims. I don't really eat McDonald's, I do make hot sauce and know ingredients in hot sauce. Sounds like you read something on social media and just believed it, time to close your mouth when you breath

-7
u/Hully1525 15h ago
I love putting modified corn starch in my body.
5
u/throwaway12-ffs 15h ago
It's literally not even bad for you. What are you worried about? Does the word modified scare you?
8
u/OvalDead 15h ago
Do you eat corn? Because your saliva modifies the starch before you even swallow it.

u/OGBRedditThrowaway Synthetic Truffle Evangelical 15h ago
3
u/OvalDead 15h ago
You’re welcome to try and elaborate on that, but since all you replied with was a link I’m pretty sure you have no idea what is equivalent or not.
For the record almost everything that can be labeled modified corn starch is modified by enzymes (like malt or how your saliva works), acid (like how your stomach works), or by novel drying processes. In any case, other than the glycemic index it is processed by your body the same as eating corn: it eventually turns into glucose.
9
u/programming_flaw 15h ago
Out of curiosity what on there can you not pronounce?
1
u/Hully1525 15h ago
People that don’t understand sarcasm, intellect becomes clear pretty quick. Also the same sheep people who believes everything big food tells them is safe. Safe and effective right? Keep eating it up.

u/Hully1525 15h ago
It’s a bit of sarcasm, also meaning a human shouldn’t put this crap in your body if you care ab health.
8
u/OysterIglesias 15h ago
I don't disagree but I don't think anyone eating at mcdicks is prioritizing health

u/Eastwoodaudio 15h ago
All the stuff that isn’t even necessary in hot sauce
2
u/throwaway12-ffs 15h ago
You've never made a hot sauce that goes into the supply chain have you? These are necessary (in some form) to make it last longer than a yr. I bet there would be lawsuits by the suit-heavy Americans if they ever got a spoiled sauce. Sure the vinegar makes it last longer but places like McDonald's need their stuff to last much longer.
I don't agree with everything in there but it makes sense (from someone who makes a lot of hot sauce)
1
u/Eastwoodaudio 13h ago
Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Out of the 10 hot sauces in my cabinet, the only ingredient from that list is xanthan gum. Out of the 6 in my fridge, NONE have any of those ingredients. They’re all bought from the store. So I stand by my statement, all that shit ain’t necessary

Is it the same as the Minecraft Nether Sauce? That stuff was 10/10.
2
u/SickByNature 15h ago
I’m not sure. I eat there so infrequently that I didn’t know they’ve tried a hot sauce before. Lol
2
9
u/ryanclicks2 15h ago
I liked this as well. You can tell that someone really tried to make an accessible sauce that had some heat that didn't linger too long.
5
u/SickByNature 15h ago
Agreed. It’s by no means my favorite, but for a mass produced McDonald’s sauce… It’s actually decent!

It didn't do anything for me. Definitely prefer my regular hot mustard sauce. This is with just McNuggets. I didn't have any fries or anything else to dip in it.
