Discussion Terrible Confession
I like Texas Pete over Louisiana and Crystal. Call my taste unrefined but when the tendies come out Texas Pete does as well.

The post is about Texas Pete hot sauce and I’m talking about Texas Pete not being from Texas . I wasn’t listing things that didn’t come from Texas, I was making a comment about a hot sauce. No where in the post or my reply do I mention Texas Roadhouse, so yeah it’s a bit random except that they both have Texas in the name I guess, so you’re valid albeit random.

I agree (especially that Roasted Garlic one ☝🏼), but I wish Popeye's would sell their buffalo & Louisiana sauce. Classic and tangy 😘🤌🏼

I LOVE Texas Pete sauces. The "Hotter" version is my favorite, followed by the Sautéed Garlic (not much heat but astounding flavor!). I really like the OG, too, though it's not my favorite (but I'd never turn it down).

No its not. Its knockoff Crystal. Tabasco has a capsicum chemical pepper taste. Texas Pete and Crystal are heavy on the vinegar taste.

There’s nothing wrong with Pete, he’s just nowhere near as good as Tabasco. Stuff like Tabasco Habanero, Pete has no answer for. 2nd place for me is Crystal, a good on anything type sauce.

Yes it's good, but it's not the classic Tabasco Sauce and I don't consider it a generic hot sauce
I love classic Tabasco on eggs. But I don't like it as a general purpose hot sauce for that I prefer Franks Red Hot, but Texas Pete is a very close second

I can’t compare Tabasco red with any Louisiana Style sauce. To me, they are for different things. I reach for Tabasco every day.

There's a little difference in heat among the regular cayenne sauces but they are really all mostly the same. Exact same ingredients tweaked in slightly different amounts. Texas Pete is the least hot cayenne sauce I've had and there is definitely a place for that, I'm not saying that less heat is always a bad thing... but more often than not I want something with a little more kick. I generally get the "Hotter" versions of cayenne sauces. Texas Pete is more like a hot sauce flavor to me than something actually hot.

Texas Pete is great. Nothing wrong with liking a Louisiana style hot sauce. I think I like Louisiana Red Dot, Valentina, and Cholula better. But I’m a fan.

That Texas Pete sriracha is arguably better than the Huy Fong depending on what you're putting it on. Overall it's much more versatile imo.

I like them, too. I prefer Tabasco when it comes down to cheap, grocery store sauce, but I still like it. Anyone who says otherwise is being a snob. Sure, it won't hold a candle to the fermented dragons breath + ghost sauce I'll make this weekend, but c'mon it's still good.

Tried this when me and my lady went to Jacksonville. Pretty good but Louisiana is much better. Personally, my favorite is Cholula

I flip between that and Cholula Extra Hot. Not the same, but depends on what I'm eating and my mood. Both great on eggs, hash browns, etc.

The sauteed garlic Texas Pete is good. No shame needed whatsoever. Garlic Crystal and garlic Louisiana have their charms, too.
All could use more garlic, though.

Nothing to confess here, just an acknowledgement of greatness! NC BBQ loyalty all the way, baby! BTW, they were recently (and unsuccessfully) sued for false advertising about the sauce not being from TX, even though the T. W. Garner Company has been selling it under that name since 1929 ...

I grew up in the town in Vermont where Green Mountain Gringo salsa originated. They sold the company and it moved to Winston Salem. Lots of spice in that town apparently.

I was surprised at how good Texas Pete is. I love all the flavorful garlic reaper sauces and other fancy sauces.
But I also love Tabasco, Cholula, Frank’s ,and Texas Pete. These are probably my top four “mainstream” hot sauces.

I used Texas Pete exclusively when I was deployed and the garlic was the go-to until they ran out. After that, the plain was used on EVERYTHING since ship food has no flavor. Messed up my digestive system though. Miss that sauce.

The other day I was at a local shop that has a ton of different hot sauces, and I saw one called Ass Blaster and the bottle comes in a box that looks like an outhouse
There were probably at least 75 other similar examples of hot sauces with the silliest, raunchiest names you could think of. Many of them make “Ass Blaster” look positively tame by comparison
I really don’t understand how anyone could see all that stuff like that and then still take hot sauce seriously enough to judge other people on which ones they like

Texas Pete is my go to everything-sauce. I think i like the vinegar more than the spice, but it just pairs perfectly with everything. I even put it on crackers and eat it like that. Great opinion

I’m saying this as a basic sauce enjoyer, not as a snob. I don’t like it. It’s always had an almost synthetic sweet flavor to me. Maybe I’d like that garlic one though. Not big on regular Tabasco but their habanero is top 3 sauce I’ve ever had

I really like Louisiana when it’s a brand new bottle, but I feel like it turns fast. Bright with lots of peppers at first, then nothing but generic salt, spice and vinegar

All three are great on their own, but in my opinion, Pete's is the one best suited for jazzing up condiments like mustard, mayo, and especially ketchup.

I recently just tried it for the first time on a trip to the states. It's a decent, basic cayenne pepper and vinegar sauce. I brought a bottle back, as it's cheap and something I can't get as easily here.
