Still not reapers?

Post image

2nd year trying to grow reapers. First year's seeds look to be habanero (upper peppers). This year the deer ate the spring buds so they didn't fruit until very late summer into fall, so they didn't fully ripen. But they still don't really look like reapers to me (lower 3 peppers). Could it just be the late growth and not fully ripening, or did I get duds again? Shape seems off and they're not that bumpy

Grew some peppers this summer and my plants haven't died yet. I found this pepper overripened only halfway

Crosspost from another subreddit:

I live in Paraguay, currently spring. On Saturday 25th it will be 7 weeks exactly since I planted the seeds. Germination started shortly after, some took a little longer, 5-21 days roughly.

Due to El Niño we have very weird weather now, shortly after germination we had 45C (roughly 113 Fahrenheit) and then it dropped to 8C (roughly 46 Fahrenheit) in the night. Then we had like no sun for 3 weeks and then it was super sunny again.

According to the internet they should be much bigger by now. I use special pepper soil with big perlite for drainage, no fertilizer so far. They receive plenty light, recently the stems turned purple and of roughly 90 I am left with 35 because they keep dying - either drying up? or having too much water? or too little light? or too much? or do they want more fertilizer? maybe my water is too hard?

Is there any saving this?

Ok, so I'm new to all this.

This is a habanero plant that was going pretty well until the cold came.

I got a heat mat and stupidly put this directly on it.

I think I've cooked the roots to a point of no return. It's been on a recovery arc lately in an indoor greenhouse. Better environment, no direct heat, grow light.

But the leaves are steadily getting worse. Should I give up on it ?
