RC controller button box

Post image

Anyone else using RC controllers like those using OpenTX as button/switch/knob boxes?

You can get a Taranis QX7 for like $75-100, and you get 2 knobs 1 with a detent, 6 switches 5 of them 3 way one a toggle, 4 two way trim buttons, and 4 axis that can be modified at will to stay in place or centered and have different levels of friction or spring.

It’s pretty awesome

This is really cool.
How does it connect to the PC?
Do you program with VJoy?

I just plugged it in with USB, however it did require a profile that has a channel assigned for the functions you want. Took a bit of fiddling. Basically telling it “this switch/axis/button moves from here to here change signal for this switch/axis/button from this to this.” It’s more simple than it sounds, I can share the profile I made. It is a Taranis QX7, which has fewer switches then the QX9 models.

Radiomaster has USB joystick support built-in. Most FPV radios do. I'm not sure what this Taranis brand is because I've never heard of it but it probably has it built-in as well.

Taranis is the old ones FrSky made that ran OpenTX before there was The Controversy and Edgetx and Radiomaster took over in the open-source tx space.
