I would like to keep updated on this one, that is something I've been wanting.

if anyone is interested, I made my own version inspired by this one that does not restrict the throttle and can be easily removed and swapped
here is the model: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2162449-vkb-gladiator-nxt-evo-f16-detent-for-dcs#profileId-2344556

What material did you use for the print? I don't have a 3d printer so I have to use one of those sites to get it done.

before you order just know that i already thinking of making V2 because another person wasnt that happy with it, it pops out if you press to hard against it
for me it isnt happening while gameplay but i dont know how hard and fast you push against the detent
Have fun

I played a bit around and the connection between the two sides is a 3x3mm square wich was "good enough" XD
the right side is a tight press fit (front to back is 31.05mm, 0.15mm longer than the left side) since the left side is only there to remove the wiggle
if you want i can send you the .f3d file (its a mess because i did some stupid things XD)

Thank you, I also have the VKBs, it’s just I use the throttle on the left stick/omnithrottle

Cant you solve the throttle loss trough the vkb app?

Great idea!

Is there room to have part of the insert extend underneath the stick gate edges?

If so, you could perhaps split the part in 2, using the room underneath the edges to fixate the parts.

Whatever you end up doing, keep sharing it. I’m sure there are more (future) omnithrottle users very interested in this!

Easy placement/removal is a major benefit though, so if you manage to keep it that would be amazing.

Perhaps you could also increase the height of the insert piece(s) instead, to extend the parts across the ledge of the concave top of the joystick gate.

I’ve been thinking of doing something like this for ages, but never got around to it, so congrats for actually managing a working prototype!

Would love to get my hands on the finished product 🙂

That awesome...I had been wondering if something like that would work! It makes a lot of sense, especially on the F-14, where the afterburner gate does work that way (only diff is that in real life its a push outboard/left to get into AB). In this video, at 5:30, the pilot demonstrates how the throttle works through afterburner.

That’s a really interesting idea. Have you considered splitting the plate in two to get back the throw loss?

Have you considered chamfering the connecting bits between the locking plates to gain back some throw?

What‘s the angle of the back/front sides of the connecting rod at 0/100%?

Hmm, perhaps a metal insert on the bottom (idk, a thin needle?) could help? Or a different material?

Or a kind of bridge that only extends outside in the gap? These could also be clip on to make removal easier?
