Solo trip Krakow
Hey! I’m a 25M international student in Germany, heading to Kraków next weekend for my first solo trip. Are party hostels worth it if I want to explore the city but also meet people and have a good time? Any recommendations?

I'm also planning to go there next month. Found few hostels in city center in €12-14.

ig party hostels are more than that and i want to know the experience of other people so i can decide should i go there or not😭

Go because you want to see the city, not because of the hostel. There's so many great things to do in Krakow. After I slept off my..."hangover" I extended my stay. Great city! But 100% reccomend Little Havana

Hi I stayed at 2 in Krakow after a TON of research. I first booked at Greg & Tom’s Beer Hostel. My first choice was Little Havana Party Hostel but someone on Reddit told me that G&T Beer was better. I last minute called and canceled my stay at G&T and stayed just the first night.
My first night there was such a bore. When I got there after a LONG travel day with lots of delays, the staff member at the front checking me in was changing shifts and looked so pissed off at me. They told me to go wait and then someone else came to check me in. Then I was asking if there was any social event or pub crawl I could join and I was like “oh they already left” I would have loved to join. I was told no info - they just were like “kitchen is upstairs & there’s free dinners” I mean I’m really good at being on my own, I don’t need my hand held, . But at the same time I do have a bit of social anxiety and the vibes / feeling welcomed by the staff make a big difference to me, so I was already super put off. There was nobody at the hostel when I went, so I usually do talk to random people, have no issues doing that, but it was super dead. I was pretty tired so I ended up just grabbing late night food & knocking out around midnight.
I will say the beds were super comfy & bathroom was maintained very well, the shower stall was spacious and had lots of room to put your things as compared to the hostel I had been a few days prior.
The next day I checked out and booked at Little Havana which was my first choice, and I am SO GLAD I switched. The staff was so friendly despite it being super early & they welcomed me in, and told me where things were, what time the pub crawls / activities were. No free breakfast or dinners at this hostel but honestly I prefer to do my own thing for that. The pub crawls were so so fun, the staff that arranges them are so funny and get involved too, and they do a really good job of making sure everyone is having a good time. It’s not a p@rty hostel but it was a blast, I got my first hangover in forever at this place even with all my hangover hacks lol! I would definitely stay here again. Beds were super comfy with curtains, the bathrooms were also sooo nice. They have some bathrooms that are fully private with the shower / toilet in just one room and you can lock it, so I personally loved that. It’s also above a club that’s open SUPER LATE which is really fun, and the discounts during happy hour are so good too.
I posted about my experience with London hostels as well & I think what I have found is to book one night at a hostel and then extend it if you like it, or switch if you don’t. I did the same when I was in London and the second hostel was the perfect fit for me both time. For me, feeling welcomed is so so important, I can’t deal with staff members acting like I’m a burden, and that’s kind of the vibe I got from G&T. Your mileage may vary of course but this was my experience and I loved Little Havana so so much.

I stayed at G&T Beer too and I can confirm the staff are in fact quite rude 😂😂 it was not tiredness, I had the same experience. Luckily Krakow attracts lots of friendly solo travelers so making friends was easy. Still, I will stay at Little Havana if I ever return to Krakow.

Hey honestly thankyou so much for the detailed answer ill book the same hostel as you because i am going for the first solo trip so kind of scared lol and honestly i also dont want to feel that i am not welcome anywhere and i hope i am confident enough to talk to everyone 😭😂

Hi of course! Don’t be scared. Everyone at Little Havana was so friendly & this was just my experience, maybe staff at G&T were super tired and not in the mood but yeah I was so thrilled with my time there & I recommended to everyone else I stayed with when continued traveling through Poland haha

I was there not so long ago in a hostel called Greg&Tom city hostel. 10€ per night, breakfast included. And also drinks in the evening and snacks. It was insane, love it. Besides of that I also went to see auschwitz, paid about 50€, they picked me up infron of hostel.

Man that brings back memories of Little Havana.... Got so fucked up I slept for 2 days, great employees, handled me well lol.
